We have a university-wide freshman orientation program... it's mandatory for all freshmen. Seminars of up to 18 kids, with two student leaders, a staff leader, and a faculty leader. And I was asked by one of the faculty leaders to be his staff leader. After verifying that, really, I don't need to do much and hey, I get paid extra - and this particular faculty member is one of my favorites - I said sure.

My advisor packet came today.

It is packed so full of info! All the stuff the students get sent, a full list of general education requirements, and a nearly 200-page advisor handbook!

This is the kind of stuff I needed all along to help me do my job, people. I didn't go to a four-year college. I didn't know any of this stuff. I have so totally been winging it. But now I have the information I need. So I'm happy.

so now the cow-orkers that have been merely amazed at your work will
now be blinded by your stellar functionality?

Precisely. :)

... of your big university and your established Freshman Orientation program. I'm at a small school, basically in the process of creating the orientation over the last year or so, and it's frustrating. Enjoy your part in it; meeting the kids (of whatever age) and forming a relationship with them is a great goodness, IMO.

There are lots of great goodnesses we can do with this program... the more I read the materials, the happier I am with the program. :)
