Hello to new readers [livejournal.com profile] antsswarm, [livejournal.com profile] drakkar, [livejournal.com profile] giggly_puff, [livejournal.com profile] holme, [livejournal.com profile] mardaleon, and [livejournal.com profile] seanpatfannon!

PARTY!!!
Birthday party TODAY at 7 PM. If you need directions, e-mail yendi AT livejournal.com. The party is for me, [livejournal.com profile] mermaidblue, [livejournal.com profile] sibylla, and [livejournal.com profile] missbiscuit. TELL ME if you're coming!

Damn story ideas.
Damn michaelmarshallsmith-esque world with a genetically and magically enhanced slightly edwardscissorhandsish rogue named Maggie, short for Magic-Merveille, who has to figure out what the deal is with this little kid who falls through worlds and how to fix it and get him home.... I have enough with Shayara and the Maia story (the h-bomb of the gods story, for those who remember) and my new non-genre novel.... dammit. I think it comes from hanging around [livejournal.com profile] murnkay too much.

Okay!
Enough babbling. Shower, breakfast, long-overdue visit to chiropractor, gift shopping, food shopping, etc. Bye!

I came home yesterday to a beautiful and sweet card from [livejournal.com profile] mnfiddledragon and a bag full of presents from [livejournal.com profile] ocean_song! I had no idea that there would be Fabulous Prizes for hostessing!

I have no pants. Seriously. I have 3 pairs of jeans that fit. One's in the hamper, one's in the washer, one's in the dryer. I'm hoping for dry jeans soon, because I cannot go to the chiropractor in a skirt!

Warren Ellis is writing a novel in 60 posts here on LJ. Hell yeah, baby. Go add [livejournal.com profile] mistersleepless.

Why do I host gatherings so much?

Not because I want to be the center of attention - actually, I try to avoid that. I host gatherings to connect people with other people, to hear and partake in the conversations that get sparked, the ideas that spring forth, when you get a bunch of intelligent, creative people in the same room.

One of the things I love best is my ability to facilitate that. I'm just the magnet that draws you here, the nexus point. I create the space, the mood; I give you a place to interact. And my involvement from then on is minimal. My reward is the happiness of my friends. I love to watch you guys. :)

Same goes for LJ, on a less immediate scale. Parts of my journal are very interactive, just to facilitate that exchange among you guys. :)

It is impossible to transport two dozen 12" helium balloons in a sedan that also contains three people.

Just so you know.
