Y'all would not believe how difficult it is to buy a pair of jeans that fit.

I'm short. No, I'm *really* short. And I'm woman-shaped, not stick-figure. Not rubenesque or anything, bt I've given birth, so I have hips.

I was elated last year to find pants that fit. Lee Riveted painter jeans. I bought several pairs from JCPenney. Wore them almost every day. Got very accustomed to having the hammer-loop on one side, the pocket on the other, to sove my hands down. The jeans were my uniform.

Y'know that 14 pounds I lost? Yep. My pants are now quite loose on me. So yesterday I went to JCPenney.com to order them in a smaller size.

The smallest they go is 6P, which is what I'm currently wearing. Baffled. Staring at the screen. This is post-seizure, too, so I'm brainmuddled and can't understand the lack of a 4P there and just keep looking. Yendi came over to help, and wee looked at lee.com. Only 6Ps. At this point, I just couldn't do anymore, postictal exhaustion, and I shuffled off to bed.

So this morning. Googled the jeans. Spiegel has them, as do a bunch of merchants I know nothing about. Great, I go to Spiegel. They have them in 4P! I click to buy.

Their site isn't working.

Gyah.

Finally Yendi thought to look on Amazon.com. And yes. Spiegel is selling the jeans there. 4P. And Amazon actually lets you buy things.

Ordered.

But no one seems to have them in 2P, so if I continue with the weight loss.... :(

Yes, I've gotten lots of supportive e-mails. I'm generally not up to replying at the moment - need to get a little distance, if only for today - but I do appreciate it and I will respond.

All three silver rings on my left hand are tarnished on the palm side. Like, severely tarnished.

They were not tarnished when I went to bed last night.

The only thing I've touched since I woke up is the computer, and I type with my right hand only.

The silver rings on my right hand are fine.

So. WTF? And does anyone know how to make them not-tarnished?

[livejournal.com profile] mycroftca reminded me of the powers of 10 Java thingie, and I played it for Elayna. Lots of "Omigosh! Omigosh!" and "That's so beautiful!" and "Play it again!"

We watched it about ten times, micro to macro to micro.....

And it led to discussions! About how we're all carbon-based, and quarks (she thinks quarks are beautiful, and "so *that's* why they say that people are beautiful on the inside!"), and mitochondria, and she had *so many* biology and general science questions - what happens when stars die and how long it takes us to know, the effects of a meteor hit (I pulled up pics of the Tunguska crater for her), tesseracts, etc... so many questions!

Me: "You see how cool science is?"
Her: "Yeah! I'm definitely going to check out a book about science from the library!"

I will now present her with A Wrinkle in Time. She's ready. :)

Still going strong.. I'm one of three players left in the game. Currently, I'm in third place - [livejournal.com profile] yendi's still plugging away with 20 correct answers. I have 14 correct in a row, I think, coming up on [livejournal.com profile] olliesmama, who had 15? 16? before she was eliminated.

One more question til I have to switch categories, shitshitshit. I took Comics first, then Books, both of which were a breeze - doing fine in Potpourri so far... I just have to beat [livejournal.com profile] yendi!

Problem: I have a photographic memory, so if I've seen a movie, I'll recognize a screenshot. But I haven't seen that many movies. And I've never in my life played a video game.

If I come in second place to [livejournal.com profile] yendi's first, I can accept that. We're partners, we're a team, and a 1-2 finish on either side will be a victory for both of us, essentially. The King and Queen of Geeks. But I still want first place!

I need a general "geeky" or "dorky" icon.

Plot: what your characters do
Character: who your characters are
Story: the mysterious, magical something that happens when plot and character get together and raise a family

*sigh* *shakes hair out*

(Hey, if I have the Rack of Doom and the Hypno-Butt, shouldn't my hair have a name?)

So [livejournal.com profile] vidicon came over to drag my ass off the computer; we saw Lost in Translation, which is excellent. And I got hit with the worst blood sugar crash that I didn't pass out during upon standing up at the end of the movie. Eating one Pillsbury biscuit at 10 AM will not hold you til 5 PM, people. It just won't.

Yes, I know, I'm not taking care of myself. But I'm not hungry, I'm nauseous all the time, and it was difficult just to get throuh that biscuit. But this.... vision graying out around the edges, legs wobbly... fortunately I had a ginger candy in my purse, which actually satisfied my hunger completely. But I ate a hummus plate at [livejournal.com profile] javamonkey anyway. I eat a lot of JavaMonkey hummus plates these days, because they seem to be the one food I can eat a substantial enough amount of.

Hanging out with Vid is good. Pressure-free. I sometimes feel like I have to be sparkly and entertaining in person, but never with him; the man is one of my best friends ever. Really second only to [livejournal.com profile] yendi, these days. Zan's close, too. So. It was very good of Vid to get me out for the day. It helped my mental state immensely to just be the hell away from the computer.

[livejournal.com profile] yendi isn't gaming tonight, so we will likely do a bit of cleaning then watch a DVD or some stuff off the TiVo. Yes, I know, we live a terribly glamourous life.
