No birthdays today. Birthdays tomorrow. Always birthdays tomorrow.

Hello to new readers [livejournal.com profile] jasmine_koran, [livejournal.com profile] katster, [livejournal.com profile] vampry, and [livejournal.com profile] zanmonk!

Want to see me? I might be available in late February...
I am booked every. day. Until Tuesday. And things may come up between now and Tuesday to book Tuesday, too.

The downside: I'm not going to be able to sift through the New Kids and add people this weekend.

The upside: That's because I might be having a friend come in from out of town - yay! Which will make two weeks in a row where cute boys will be visiting ([livejournal.com profile] asim's visiting on MLK weekend).

Grr.
I still do not have my desk calendar. It was ordered from Office Depot on December 29. And it's still not here. When [livejournal.com profile] yendi takes Miss Kid to karate tonight, I may have him pick the refill I need up and get reimbursed by the department, because this is making it infernally difficult to do my job.

The Amazing Sleep-Dep Lass!
Went to bed at midnight last night. Had to be up at six. When hearing what time I had to wake up, [livejournal.com profile] kires asked what deity I'd offended.

Projecty
I only have one more huge project this week. I will do that today. Friday will then be free for final prepping for the new semester.

Okay. I haven't read my friends page since 4:30 yesterday. I ought to go do that.

When I first started using AIM, the name "Shadesong" was taken. Bastards. So I'd been using Kithraya. And I was never quite cool with that. So I've changed it.

My new AIM name is "TheRealShadesong". Because I am, dammit.

So I'm recompiling my buddy list. Remember, I keep my privacy settings so that only people on my buddy list can see me! So if you ever want to chat, please give me your screen name. Yes, even if you already have. Thank you.

[Poll #230187]

EDIT: If you don't want people to see your screen name, mail it to me with the subject "AIM". And this is AIM only, I don't have Yaghoo Messenger or MSN. And Actually it's iChat, which is infinitely preferable to regular AIM. And I'm NOT on AIM at work, just infrequently at home. And sometimes I'm there just to have a conversation with one specific person, so I'll try to keep and away message up that says that.

I'm trying to figure out how to change the default ID on my website account to something that's not idiotic, and I CAN'T figure out how to do it, and it's annoying the fuck out of me.

I mean, gee, it would have been nice if the person who set up the account had either

1. had enough sense to actually use my ID or

2. ASKED ME what I wanted the ID to be.

Y'know. That would have been logical. Instead, I get something I hate, and don't seem to have a way to change it.

So last week, my boss bought this tub of 310 mini candy canes from Sam's Club. For 88 cents.

She realized today that it was a dollar and 88 cents, to which I said, "That's much too expensive!"

But anyway. We were being very silly in her office, talking about sending strip-o-grams to professors, Brian Boitano, the disease that is Teletubbies, etc...

And I came up with an idea. I asked if I could put candy canes in the professors' and grad students' mailboxes. "Please please please!" And it took much convincing. But she has allowed me to do so.

So I put one in each mailbox.

And I will put one in each mailbox every two weeks. Just to mess with their heads.

La!

Everyone else seems to be doing them... but mine is in flux at all times, mostly with people becoming more important in my life, occasionally with people fading to the background. So I'm only going to list a very few, and if you're a real-life friend and you're not on here, I do love you, but I'm experiencing brain-fry, and will talk about you later.

[livejournal.com profile] elaynajade/[livejournal.com profile] mystical_elf: My daughter! Almost 9 years old and not just a great kid, but an all-around great PERSON.

[livejournal.com profile] yendi: Geez. What the hell are you, hon? Well. Yendi's been my best friend for about eight years now, long-distance til 1998, and I moved up here to be with him in 2001. He's my best friend, my favorite ex-boyfriend, my partner. In de Lint's Spirits in the Wires, the concept of a shadow twin is explored... the shadow being the bits of a person that that person feared or did not want to be. The character of Christy shed his wild side, among other things, and what could not himself be became Christianna. Well. That's us. A perfect match, two sides of a coin - the same metal, but very different "faces". He's my Christy, I'm his Christianna. (I'm also Jilly Coppercorn.)

[livejournal.com profile] morenasangre and [livejournal.com profile] farren: Yendi's and my best couplefriends; we met them where we met each other, on the Tamson House mailing list. Best friends, really, not just couplefriends. Farren's my wacky kid brother, and Morena feels like a very patient older sister, and we love them. :)

Zan: My Wonder Twin, hence the name. I'd never met anyone quite exactly like me... until Zan. (Yes, there are two of us!) Instant clickage, instant telling of life stories with "me too!"s. We react to things in the same way. We just... *flutters hands* It's impossible to explain. We just are what we are.

[livejournal.com profile] sibylla: Zan is my fire twin, and Sibylla's my water twin. We are the Crow Girls, we are the [livejournal.com profile] nearlywildroses. The parts of me that are not reflected in Zan are reflected in Sibylla, and some of the same things as well, just... reflected differently. Another sister. :)

Right, then. That's enough of you lot for now, and I'm sure I've missed some incredibly obvious people, but I'll pick this up again later.

"There's not much of a risk of exploding turkeys."

I cannot be the only one who has these conversations, can I?

[livejournal.com profile] yendi and I were discussing the possibility of snow yesterday, and he poked fun at Snow, the Candian-Jamaican-whiteboy rapper. And I did a little skip in the middle of the road and sang, "Informer..." and stopped. [livejournal.com profile] yendi looked at me. I said, "Well, that's the only line anybody knows." And he agreed that this was true.

I have never been one to let a thing alone. And remember, I'm the girl who ran "Ice Ice Baby" through several iterations of Babelfish, just for you. A service I provide. You're welcome.

Without further ado, the lyrics! )

And now we know why he sang so fast. Because this is complete freakin' gibberish. *bounce*
