The child actually slept til 7... it's a $WINTERHOLIDAY miracle!

She continued the Christmas tradition of not realizing that her stocking area was hers because there was so much stuff. The Big Gift from Santa - a keyboard. And there was other stuff... Neopets and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, candy, activity books, a spa science kit, a jewelry kit, a Barbie, and the long-coveted Chia Pet!

Dayum. I'm glad I'm not Santa. (My birthmom is Santa; she's making up for not having been Santa for me.)

And there was other stuff, and the gift orgy was somewhat restrained this year, actually, which is of the good. And there was lots of coffee, which is very much of the good. I'm still tired, but such is life. Oh, dude, I was so tired yesterday... side-effect-wise, all I had was tunnel vision, and only a little bit, so since I didn't *feel* sick, I really overdid it, and I slept half the day... the effects were harsher today, so it's been easier to pace myself.

I got great stuff, which I shall link to when I get home. :)

I am just staring at the screen between sentences, so I should rest; we're heading out to my birth-aunt-in-law's parents' house at 1. Their gift to Elayna was a box full of Hershey's kisses. They don't know she's allergic. But the box itself was the gift - beautiful glittery shimmery porcelain, with a big bee on the lid. The kid digs insects.

My girl.

I lack energy to describe other gifts. Weird. But yeah - we are verra happy. And we have a plan worked out for tomorrow evening and Monday, for Morena & Farren time. Yay! And tomorrow during the day we're going to Cassadaga to see psychics, because that's where my birthmom got the reading from the psychic who knew she had a daughter and told her to go look for me.

After my first trip to Deland for Christmas, I described the visit to Adam suchly:

"Okay, so, we sat around the table and ate. And then we had coffee and ate some more. And then? We ate."

So. Much. Food.

Today's schedule: Gift orgy! Then sitting around the table for hours eating fruit, bagels, and assorted meats. Then showers, and a snack before lunch.

Lunch was... oh. Stuff. Lots of stuff. A ham. A potato salad and a carrot salad, both very Greek - the former had whole olives in it, the latter had feta. Asparagus, cheese, salami, two types of breads, several types of cookies, including one that only this woman makes, I swear...

I had seconds - and, of the potato salad, thirds. That is how good the food was.

And then we came home to find that a neighbor had left a tin of cookies on the doorstep, with a note apologizing for the cookies collapse inside, as they had been straight from the oven when packed. We got in and pried the lid off to find what looked like entire bars of Hershey's with some doughlike substance slathered on them. The "cookies" were poked and prodded.

"What is this?"
"Chocolate and.. butter and something."
"Someone try it."

Three hands break off hunks of "cookie", despite everyone being incredibly full.

"What is it? What is it?"
"It's oatmeal!"
"Oh! It's good for you!"

Other people are collared. "Eat this! It's good for you!"
"That's pure chocolate!"
"And oatmeal! Oatmeal's good for your cholesterol!"

And the kitchen table was once again surrounded by all of the grownups.

"Who wants coffee?"

A chorus of I-dos, minus my - still too full to pour coffee into my poor distended tummy.

My aunt, to me: "You like yours black, right?"
"No coffee! I'm full!"
Other relative: "But it's *coffee*!"
Adam: "Who are you, and what have you done with my wife?"

This goes on. I try the cookie. I consent to coffee, to the relief of all present.

*stretch* I just woke up from a three-hour post-cookie-and-coffee nap. The family went to someone else's house while I was gone - I was invited, but was too far gone to go anywhere.

And just as I was writing the part about opening the cookies, my aunt walked in... "You'll be so proud - look! I brought you food!"

A towering stack of plates - hunks of turkey and roast beef... and a big plate of several different kinds of dessert.

Heh. I s'pose it's dinnertime. I'm still full from lunch! But I shall endeavor to do my best.
