Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] norda!

Happy early birthday to [livejournal.com profile] eng1ne and [livejournal.com profile] kidzero, both of whom advance a year over the weekend!

Hello to new reader [livejournal.com profile] fitfool!

Medical
Just exhaustion + nausea so far.
Food log so far: Two Eggo Nutri-Grain whole-wheat waffles.

Celiac
We don't know it's that! It's just one of a bunch of things she's testing for. Personally, I really hope that's not it. Because the treatment for celiac = no more gluten. Read: No more lasagna, ever. Death first, dude.

Hot Cocoa Review
Godiva > Ghirardelli. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

Goth Dance Lessons
Via [livejournal.com profile] wolflady26: Goth dance lessons. Hee!

Friday Memage!
Wearing
Black sweater with rolly white cuffs, jeans. Kokopelli socks. "Worship Here" panties with a pentacle on 'em.

Reading
Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman. (Thanks again, [livejournal.com profile] jmspencer!)

Elayna is Reading
Inkspell by Cornelia Funke, the sequel to her much-beloved Inkheart. (Great section addition, [livejournal.com profile] shellefly!)

Writing
I plan to outline my NaNoWriMo story this weekend.

Planning
Shamefully, I have still not finished decorating the outside of my house; [livejournal.com profile] kires will be arriving this afternoon, and will hopefully happily help me with that.

He wants to see Saw II this weekend just because we saw Saw last year at this time. I'm trying to convince him that not all traditions are good. Saw was one pound of good movie in a ten-pound sack and, like sausages, you really don't want to know about the other nine pounds.

He'll be here all weekend, so locals who want to see him should let me know!

So what are y'all up to?

Hey, d'you guys want a nifty handmade Serenity T-shirt like this? (Yes, [livejournal.com profile] photognome, [livejournal.com profile] the_colombian, [livejournal.com profile] glenn5, and [livejournal.com profile] vampry, this is the one I wore to the screening!)

[livejournal.com profile] mizarchivist is making them again!

Details here. She can make 'em regular or fitted-girly (I have one of each). These are screenprinted, not crappy CafePress thingies. Quality, see?

So go check it out. *nod*

Monday is the deadline for 8 Hunks of Hanukkah.

You must send your pictures to hanukkah.hunks AT gmail.com by midnight on Monday, or you cannot participate.

Please pass this on to any nominated-and-accepted Hunks of your acquaintance. Thanks!

I've asked you about your default icon, I've asked you about your chosen name... now I'm going to ask you why you're here in the first place. No, not in the cosmic grand scheme of things. But:

Why are you on LiveJournal?

Why do you keep an LJ? What is it for you - a diary? A community-building tool? A way to communicate?

How do you use it? What do you use it for?

Why LJ instead of Journalspace, BlogSpot, et cetera?

This has more relevance than just my curiosity; this is also LJ-panel-at-Arisia research so, as the six-fingered man said, "Tell me how you feel...and remember, this is for posterity, so please be honest." :)

Because a bunch of people asked for updates: Have appointment for CT scan. 11/4, 11 AM. It's got contrast dye, so I have enlisted Adam to drive me home. *nod*

Vote for me in [livejournal.com profile] mgrasso's iPod war!

It is important that you do so, as he's pitted my first-10-random-songs against his. And it's his journal. So I am like set to fail. And this is my first time playing, even. And lo, I pout. *pout*

And I've got TMBG and Buffy up there. *nod*

So. Vote your heart. Vote the 'song. Go forth!

(You should also vote for [livejournal.com profile] zeyr and [livejournal.com profile] slipjig/[livejournal.com profile] rafaela. I don't know any of the other people.)

[livejournal.com profile] kires says:

Imagine lightning strikes, like, ten or twenty feet away. Blinding flash, takes over your brain. So. (Stop that.) (I'm going to pee on you.) (And just like that, it all went so horribly, horribly wrong.) (And now there shall be the ceremonial gnawing off of the leg. *Kires descends to leg* *'song squeaks like a chew toy* *'song stops directly transcribing and asks that you ignore all parenthetical statements*)

(Kires: "So who are you and why the jibbering fuck have you come to my planet?"
Kires: "That's spelled with a "g"."
'song: "I like it better with a "j".
Kires: "Oookay.")

So. Lightning.

(*massive gigglefits* Kires: "Oh, Christ.")

So. Lightning.

Big huge blinding flash of lightning right near you. When something hits that close, there is an utter and complete silence in your brain. A temporary silence, mind... truncated by the profoundly imminent arrival of the thunder.

We need an adjective for the qualities of that silence. The profound, stark, inexorably doomed, ridiculously brief, all-encompassing nature of it. Being nearly instantly destroyed by the fact and nature of its existence.

Suggestions?

Now we are going to go see about some dinner. So he can not eat my leg. Not much good eatin' on my leg, anyway.

(*Kires belches*)

This is kinda work-safe. She's naked, but her bits, they are covered. Mostly by him.

Jeramie and Alanna )

Characters are from Shayara, by me; art is by the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] xanadumalion.

Next up - this piece in color. Shiny. :)

(If you are bored tonight, you may follow the "alanna" and "jeramie" tags for random storybits.)
