Rabbit rabbit!

Administration
Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] idonotlikepeas and [livejournal.com profile] time_shark!

Hello to new reader [livejournal.com profile] ken_schneyer!

State of the 'Song
I'd been getting a few nights of okay sleep, but last night was made of fail. Sleep study next week. I shall persevere.

House Stuff
I got derailed from my schedule yesterday for the best of reasons - we got a call to check out a house we're very very interested in. Y'all. It's actually more space than we currently need, which means a guest room, office space, a craft room, a game room... Judah and I were wandering around all like "there's more?" Also, it's a single-family with a little yard space for gardening, a three-car garage, and a courtyard with a stone bench, and the (absentee) landlords are cool with cats and us painting the interior. It's $100 more than we'd set as our maximum; Judah would be paying the same rent he's paying now, and Adam and I would still be paying less. There's another place to look at today, but I'm really sold on this one, to the point that Adam's already filled out his application (he's going out of town; Judah and I can fill ours out tonight).

Positive energy please, and if it works out, um, packing parties at my house every day this month! Anyone who helps gets dinner. Judah and I like cooking in large quantities. :)

This would pretty much get rid of the rest of my big stress. I mean, I'll still be writing the novel from hell, but it's the living situation that's really getting to me.

Link Soup
* The Susan G. Komen Foundation decides that breast cancer prevention and treatment is only for rich people.
* So Planned Parenthood is having a fund drive.
* "To protest a bill that would require women to undergo an ultrasound before having an abortion, Virginia State Sen. Janet Howell (D-Fairfax) on Monday attached an amendment that would require men to have a rectal exam and a cardiac stress test before obtaining a prescription for erectile dysfunction medication."
* ‘Don’t Be That Guy’ ad campaign cuts Vancouver sex assaults by 10 per cent in 2011 !

Plans
Oof. Thing is, I don't know if severe exhaustion is going to hit at 8, like it usually does when I've been up since 4. If not, house stuff til Adam leaves for the airport ~9:30, then writing until Elayna gets home, then working on that college spreadsheet til Judah comes by to pick me up to look at that other house. Plans tonight are pretty much just menu planning, shopping, maybe catching a few more episodes of Babylon 5, and assorted late-night deliciousness. ;)

This is a signal-boost for [livejournal.com profile] maxymyllyn, who is in law school! Everything below this sentence was written by him.

----
I am writing an article called polyamory and the law today. Basically, I am writing about how polyamory (previously called by its various and sometimes insulting nicknames) as a growing lifestyle, can function within the current structure of laws today federally, on a state level and locally. It's designed to be a primer for attorneys who have polyamorous clients and where they should go and what resources they should utilize to assist them with their day-to-day legal activities. And I need your help.

I need to get stories, legal issues, and information from people. Specifically, I'm writing about situations in which you felt that the law was not accommodating, and how you were able to work around it or within it. The more specific you are, the better.

Please email your stories to me at polylawarticle@gmail.com. Also, include contact information (phone, chat, etc.) in case I have questions. All information will be kept confidential and all situations (if described in the article) will have the names and places changes and/or redacted.

Areas I'm looking for:

Assets:
Real estate ownership
Condo ownership
Rental agreements
Commercial ownership (business and land)
Bank accounts, Investments, Wills
Government benefits (including food stamps, social security, welfare recipients, disability recipients, etc.)

Medical
Medical Care proxy
Patient visitation

Insurance
Medical, Life, etc

Children
Education

Divorce
Custody
Maternity
Paternity
Asset distribution (undoing all or some of the above)

Also, information that your attorney's advised you of that you feel comfortable sharing would be most helpful. Please share this with anyone you think can help.

Remember to be as specific as possible about the legal proceedings, instruments used, advice and rulings you received. Email me at polylawarticle@gmail.com

Thanks again,

My parents can help us with at least half of the security deposit + first month's rent, but we'll need to fundraise.

I'll definitely be doing a BPAL auction (attention: I have a lot of Storyville and other mega-rares). And I'll have to do a Wind Tunnel Dreams.

What else can I offer? What are you interested in? I'm not doing custom knitting this time because I'm still hung up on not being skilled enough yet to handle the custom knitting from last time, but otherwise I'm open to creative fundraising methods.
