Given that I am supposed to be flying down to Florida in two days to say goodbye to my dying grandmother, this had better be a 24-hour bug.

I was hoping it was allergies, but I'm having definite lung problems - which I thought was because of all the dust I stirred up in the attic, but if so, my lungs should be getting getter, not worse. Right now I have that vise-grip thing going on in my chest, with resultant shortness of breath and low-grade fear. And full-body aches. FUN.

So I have taken the sweater-knitting class! I feel like I can maybe do this! And I have six hours of plane travel to fill!

...and a queue full of sweaters and I can't decide.

The in-class recommendation was to knit a pullover
1. bottom-up
2. in pieces
3. with lots of stockinette

Because that'll be the easiest way to work in the necessary modifications for the first time.

Additional restrictions: I have no mad money and am thus on a yarn diet! Whatever I do will have to be with yarn that I already have. I currently have yarn in sweater quantities only in worsted and DK. Also note that I have yet to attempt cables and am not confident in trying them and extensive pattern mods for the first time simultaneously.

So. Knitters. Thoughts? What are your favorite simple-but-nifty sweaters?
