Oh, Joule's working again! Hello to new and new-ish readers [livejournal.com profile] perldiver, [livejournal.com profile] thatwasjen, [livejournal.com profile] xiphias!

Medical
That column of pain up my spine is the big thing right now... exhausted, too, but I can't go back to bed, because the landlord will be here soon to replace Elayna's windows. Ah well.

*squee*
Last night was wonderful (til dinner, which I'll get to in a moment) - I hadn't been surrounded by so many friends since, well, my last trip to Boston. "I live here now!", I kept giggling; "Welcome home," [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen said when he hugged me.

(Unrelated *squee* - [livejournal.com profile] kyburg, the boots and candy got here. Thank you! Elayna says that one of the reasons she needs to learn Japanese is to find out what's in all of this interesting food...)

*frustrated growl*
When the child gets That Look upon entering a restaurant, I know I'm in for it. *sigh* Utterly unwilling to give a new cuisine (Indian) a try. So. Those of you who met Elayna over dinner? She is not usually Whiny Like Whoa.

Plans
* Review the info D. sent me yesterday re: prospective project.
* Finish putting the DVDs away (did A-L yesterday).
* Take Miss Kid to the library after school - been here nearly two weeks already and have yet to get our library cards! Well, we've been busy.
* Explore downtown, if the weather holds.

Daily Science
Scientists in Britain applied for permission to create part cow, part human embryos to be used in research on treating diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

Um.

I just...

...um.

Daily BPAL

Death Cap: A lethal poison bundled up in a dainty, innocent little package that was oft times found in ancient witches’ flying ointments and astral projection balms. A warm, soft, ruddy scent, earthy and mild.

In bottle: Earthy and woody and thick.

On me: Rich loamy chewy... wow. This is very, very different! I like.

Oya: Oya’s ofrenda is a Nigerian potion of love and war, sweetened by darkest plum. Oya winiwini!

In bottle: Sweet and dark and familiar.

On me: The plum dances around that something-familiar that I can't place. This is indescribably delicious. Bottle wishlist, I think...

The High Priest Not To Be Described: Monastic incense, blood musk, black leather, cypress, pimento, white pepper, and Roman chamomile.

In bottle: Weird. The pimento and chamomile pop.

On me: I was expecting this to be spicier than it is. The pepper tickles the nose a bit, but otherwise it's quite sedate. The leather, which generally amps on me, is being shy. This is incense, pepper, and weird shit; it does not *blend*. It does not work on me. Ah well.
