What are you reading?

My answer: "Through Wolf's Eyes" by Jane Lindskold at lunch, the first Liaden omnibus at home.

What are you wearing?

My answer: Black fake-Docs, white socks, Ace ankle brace, jeans, blue-striped panties, drapey slinky raisin-colored mock-turtleneck short-sleeved shirt with little black velvet curlicues, lilac bra, hair in stealth pigtails.

And lastly, question stolen from [livejournal.com profile] kellinator: Whose journal should I be reading that I'm not reading yet? :)

I'm not reading _American Gods_. Can't seem to read anything these days. Did read _It's Not The End of the World_ (Judy Blume!) before bed last night. Stress=Heather reads juvy.

Wearing:

Black microfiber sleeveless shell top
black and white zigzag striped (very Mod) short skirt
black mules
hair in ponytail
cat bites and scratches
aching arm

I need more journals to read, too.

I have alot of juvy fiction that I run to under times of stress. One of the favorite though.. it's one that I can't remeber the name or author only the cover picture. And it's in the PA library and I'm in NC. so... now stress relife there.

I am reading Juno and Juliet by Julian Gough.
I am wearing, erm, a tank top and pajama bottoms. And my glasses.
You should be reading [livejournal.com profile] blergeatkitty's LJ.

Reading? Still Prisoner of Azkaban. I'm working on editing three fanfics for people, plus I'm helping with a ChooseYay thing so it's cutting into the Harry Potter time. (ChooseYay! You know, those choose your own adventure? only with Lex and Clark and Pete if we let him have any lines and more porn)

Wearing? black slip on shoes, faded blue jeans with a hole by the zipper, navy blue flowered panties, black bra, tie-dyed green t-shirt with dragon, rings, glasses, headphones...

Reading? um, let's see, I think you should be reading [livejournal.com profile] kstanley's Dumb!Clark diaries and [livejournal.com profile] yaycyb's corresponding what if Lex were a 13 year old girl entries. (this is based on the fact that one day, people were complaining that Lex was written like a 13 year old girl sometimse. Fun hilarity ensued. And based on the fact that really, Clark is pretty and he can lift heavy things.

Also funny on my list are [livejournal.com profile] slodwick, [livejournal.com profile] scrunchy and [livejournal.com profile] tresca.

Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 11:44 am (UTC)
reading? nothing, at the moment.

wearing: white IIT t-shirt and boxers, and a liberal coat of aloe vera on the sunburned legs :-)
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 11:48 am (UTC)
May I ask, though, what are stealth pigtails?
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 11:56 am (UTC)
The stealth pigtails are pigtails at the nape of my next - low and subtle. You can't tell they're pigtails from the front. So it's cutesy, but not as overly cutesy as handlebar-style pigtails. :)

Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 12:05 pm (UTC)
Ahh! Clever! I see!

I can't, sadly, do that with my hair. It looks okay for about ten minutes, then gets all wonky. :( I have to stick with braids. (Heh, or the handlebar pigtails, but those have to be so tight and they honestly give me headaches!)
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 12:06 pm (UTC)
Why do they end up wonky?

My hair is just past my shoulders, so I can't braid it yet. :(
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 12:17 pm (UTC)
Well, my hair's down to my waist, and when I have it in stealth pigtails (I'm going to use your term from now on) it has the unfortunate tendency of bunching up as I move about, clinging a bit here and there and just plain getting really messy really quickly.
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 11:52 am (UTC)
reading: The Science of Discworld by Terry Pratchett, Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen. physics for fantasy geeks.

wearing: big ol' grey pyjammie bottoms, black tank, and a dazed expression.

journal you should read: how the hell should i know, i get most of my new journals from you guys! =)
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 12:11 pm (UTC)
Reading: HP and the Goblet of Fire
Wearing: blue calf-length dress, about 5 sizes too big, black bra, very old skin-tone satin panties, black shoes, copper bracelet.
To read: [livejournal.com profile] amenquohi, one awesome lady.
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 12:26 pm (UTC)
Brightly Burning, by Mercedes Lackey.

Boring dark green dress pants, black loose knit blouse. Black sports bra and matching cotton undies. Black slip-on shoes with lace insets across the toes.

The only interesting thing is that the pants are just short enough that you can see my tattoo on my ankle peeking in and out as I walk. :)
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 12:32 pm (UTC)
What's the tattoo of?
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 12:42 pm (UTC)
Brown hawk, on my left ankle, wings spread in flight, with a green vine underneath it that goes all the way around. My interpretation of Windwalker, with my totem animal. :) Tried to use the vine to indicate plants/ground, acknowledgement that I *walk* with wind on the ground rather than fly.
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 12:40 pm (UTC)
Reading: Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West It took me a while to get in to, but it's good.

Wearing: river shoes, grey bike shorts, silver bra, denim/copper dress, hair in a bun as usual when it's this hot. It's too long and heavy to wear down.

LJ's? I haven't been on long enough to know individuals, but I found a fun community at [livejournal.com profile] dumpsterdiving.

Just got back from a trip to a new library. Whee!

Somehow - and this HAS to be a mistake - they actually had a copy of Janet Evanovich's Hard Eight on the shelf. Just sitting there. Now I know this was a mistake, because I've been on the hold list for the book since March (before it was released), and I'm currently shown as being number 139 out of 284 people waiting for the book. But I grabbed it, so that's my current fiction book.

I started The Triumph of the Moon: A History of Modern Pagan Witchcraft by Ronald Hutton this morning. That's my non-fiction book for now.

Okay, for once I'll answer the clothing thing. Black pants, rose-colored shirt. Bare feet as soon as I came back in the house.

Evanovich is another one of those authors that Amazon keeps insisting I'll like. It says I'd like her because I like Vachss and Lansdale, although her books look (from the cover and copy) as if they're aimed more at the traditional middle-of-the-genre crowd. What's your take?
Thursday, July 11th, 2002 08:32 am (UTC)
I don't know who Vachss or Lansdale are. But I like Evanovich, for whatever reason. I read the whole book last night, and [livejournal.com profile] sambear can tell you that I was laughing out loud a lot more than usual. There's a lot more humor. She doesn't write the kind of mysteries where you can figure things out because of clues, dropped, really - you're in the dark every bit as much as the main character for most of the book.

If the Stephanie Plum books are ever turned into movies, I can only hope Sandra Bullock (sp?) is cast in the lead, because she's who I see in my head as Stephanie.

Vachss writes very very good but disturbing crime novels about a man named Burke, who is a career criminal/vigilante who pretty much focuses exclusively on abuse and other child welfare issues. Vachss is a child welfare lawyer, and makes no bones about putting his views into the books (although I've never minded -- he's got a very stark and effective writing style, and his characters are wonderful). The overarching theme of the books is that you choose the people who are your family, and they don't have to have any biological relation to you. His page is at http://www.vachss.com.

As for Lansdaly, he's a bit harder to classify, as he writes in at least four major genres (mystery, fantasy, horror, and westerns), and has dabbled in lots of others. The mysteries (which were what Amazon mostly focused on) are about a pair of guys named Hap and Leonard, two dirt-poor East Texas rednecks who keep getting into trouble not of their doing. The books are a lot lighter than Vachss, but there's some dark stuff running through them. Hap and Leonard are two of my favorite characters. Joe's page is at http://www.joerlansdale.com.

In fact, having just gone to Joe's page to verify the link, it looks like Vachss will be on the cover of Parade this weekend.

I doubt I could read Vachss, although I agree with his views on family. I can't read or watch much of anything that deals with child abuse. Hits too close to home.

I'll check out Lansdaly, though :-)
Thursday, July 11th, 2002 09:37 pm (UTC)
Yeah, [livejournal.com profile] shadesong doesn't read Vachss for the same reason.

Definitely check out Lansdale. He's talented in every genre he touches.
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 01:38 pm (UTC)
Reading: _One Hundred Years of Solitude_ by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Still.

Wearing: black dress slacks, mustard coloured blouse with tiny decorative pleats and embroidered flowers -- all monochrome and a lot prettier than it sounds, black dress flats and black knee high hose (I can't stand full hose), plain cotton underwear and bra, bracelets, rings, watch, my raven necklace and my pentagram, hair pulled back in a half ponytail.

I think you're reading everyone I'm reading, but I'm interested in the other answers here :)
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 01:44 pm (UTC)
What the hell...

What are you reading? The Short Stories of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings for my thesis and American Gods for me.

What are you wearing? A long denim skirt unbuttoned up to the knee with a white lacy petticoat underneath, a denim peasant blouse with full sleeves, a wide belt with leather lacing in the front, a white bra, black bikinis, and blue sandals.

Whose journal should I be reading that I'm not reading yet? To quote a wise mouse, "how the hell should i know? I get most of my new journals from you guys!"
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 01:48 pm (UTC)
Reading:What I was last time. I'm slow! O.O

Wearing:White shirt, black slacks, manly kakhi scrunchi, battered but reliable Rockport sneakers. Rockport makes the best shoes! I used to go through a pair every nine to twelve months, but I've had these for over a year and a half and they're still in good shape.
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 02:23 pm (UTC)
Rockports, the official shoe of the MIB....Something you're not telling us, hmmmm? Wolf Clan: Division 6. But there is no division 6...
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 09:31 pm (UTC)
I'll explain later. Now, if you'll just look right at this little light here...
Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 07:49 pm (UTC)
Reading? Still reading Dreamcatcher by Stephen King. Loving this book though. Planning an hour long readfest in bed tonight before bedtime.
Wearing? Khakis, peach t-shirt with hood, peach socks, white bra and underwear, silver watch, perplexed expression...
Tuesday, March 15th, 2005 08:26 pm (UTC)
Would it be tacky to say you should read me? *smile*
