Concrete Blonde was fantastic. I figured out who Johnette Napolitano reminded me of... [livejournal.com profile] mousegrrl! And the songs from the new album sound great...

Can't remember a full setlist right now, but of course we got God is a Bullet and Everybody Know s and Joey and Bloodletting, and Scene of a Perfect Crime and Someday... alas, we did not get Wendy or Still in Hollywood or Ghost of a Texas Ladies' Man. But for a band that's been around that long, and a show that's only an hour long, you can't expect to hear *all* of your favorite s. I was muchly pleased.

Missions for today: Get tickets for Carbon Leaf and Great Big Sea/Seven Nations/Young Dubliners, get new, bigger cage for the gerbils and transfer tham into it, write, and await [livejournal.com profile] mousegrrl's call that she has safely ar ri ved in Atlanta (I'll post as soon as I get the call).

I love all of concrete blonde

Except "Joey"

I hate that song with a humungous passion. Hate it Hate it Hate it. If I could, I would sctratch it out on my bloodletting disc so I can automatically bypass it instead of hitting the "next" button on my player.

*giggle*

It's not my favorite, but I do like it. And it brought tears to my eyes last night... just the lines "and if you're somewhere drunk and passed out on the floor/joey, I'm not angry anymore"... reminded me of my habit of letting people who continue to hurt me back into my life...

So much of media is about how it touches us, no? :)

Precisely. :) Like the song "Drops of Jupiter" by Train - I fell in love with it when it came out, as I was planning my move to Atlanta. Going on a journey of self-discovery and whatnot...

Concrete Blonde were amazing when they were here this past Spring, and we did manage to hear Wendy and Ghost of a Texas Ladies' Man (I think), but not God is a Bullet or Scene of a Perfect Crime. So maybe they mix up the playlist a bit. Collect them all!

And damn is their new album amazing :)
