T minus 4 days 'til ours. Yay. Not much packing for us to do, though; we're all going to pack up Thursday afternoon. The files (which would take for*ever*) are not going to be packed...we're going to sequentially put them on four rolling carts and carry them over. Far easier than packing and unpacking 3000 files, while still keeping them constantly accessible. Other than those files, we just have to pack up our desk stuff, really. The movers are handling the furniture.
No, no, no, four rolling carts used over and over again ...heheh... 3000 files was not an exaggeration. Actually, it's approximately 3000 *studies*. Some of them, especially cancer studies, have multiple file folders, up to four files, 3 inches wide each. I'd say maybe a quarter to a third of our studies have two or more folders.
But it would take us probably a week to pack all our files, carry all the boxes, and unpack...and we CAN'T DO THAT. We have to have our files accessible at all times. We figured it would only take us a few hours to cart 'em all on moving day.
Ah, okay. :) No, what I've packed already is stuff like faculty evaluations, faculty applications for the last 5 years of searches, files of students who've graduated, past years' departmental accounting... the files I use every day go into their box at the very last minute. :)

I've packed 19 big long boxes of files so far, and anticipate packing at least 10 more... our books are going on carts, though.
