"We need to make more mistakes! As women, and people, and especially creatively. Start more projects! Start more than you can ever finish."

Everyone knows about my project ([livejournal.com profile] shayara). What are your projects?

Yep. That ought to take you a good long time to finish. :)

Let's see..

I'm (slowly) writing a novel currently called Ties of Blood.
I'm detailing and documenting my D&D campaign setting. I'm putting some of it online.
I'm writing a GUI administration client for mySQL that doesn't suck.
I'm trying to be a good daddy. (This one is probably the hardest. ;))
Friday, July 19th, 2002 06:20 am (UTC)
Yeah, that last is always the hardest, and it never ends... I should add "being a good mommy" to my project list!

Working on several short story and novel ideas.
Developing a 7th Seas campaign.
Seeing if Saba is a viable possibility.
Trying to be a decent mom.

Maddie is my first project. Lots of work there.
My D&D game
I have a huge pile of miniatures on my desk that are slowly getting painted and moved into the cabinet.
and I'd like to start writing, but I need to get a better handle on my time first

I have about 6 fanfics I'm working on. I need to focus and get one done.

Right now I also seem to be working on putting music listings together that remind me of the SV characters. What? I'm bored at work! So far Jonathan has been the easiest. I mean "It's alright to be a Redneck" and "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" are perfect. Sorry to everyone that doesn't get the references. You should be more cultured in Country music.

I also have a story to beta for an online friend. One story that has been at beta for like a couple of months...

I actually listed them in today's lj entry, so if you want the list, go there. I actually listed every writing project I have going, which is an exhaustive list in itself. :)
Friday, July 19th, 2002 08:21 am (UTC)
At any given time I have approximately six million writing projects going -- novels, essays, articles, reviews, poetry, short stories. When one balks, I move to a different one. It is how I avoid writers' block.

The one project that occupies most of my time is my yet-unnamed fantasy series. "Sea of Jade" and "Staff of Onyx" are the first two in that series, with more to come.

cheers,
Phil

Creative:
A couple short stories, one novel in progress (parts in my LJ memories) that needs a LOT of work, trying to kick start my artistic side once again & designing bead jewellery.

Education:

Re-learning French & Spanish, contiuing learning Japanese, German & Greek (the last I hope my grandmother can teach me) finishing my ACCA qualification in December.

Career wise:

Trying to stay on top of the workload until my boss returns so I can quit to cater full time...that one should be interesting. ^_^

I have manymany knitting projects in progress. 3 pairs of socks, 3 shawls, 2 scarves, several baby things (for gifts), 1 baby blanket (gift), and various sweaters. I have two sweaters that just need finishing now! Summer ones, ones I can wear right away. I happy about them.

My apartment is an ongoing project.

I have one novel started and another seriously germinating in my head (and a couple of old ones I may or may not go back to).

Really, my whole life is a work in progress.
Friday, July 19th, 2002 08:56 am (UTC)

Numerous partly completed fiction projects and an MPhil thesis in ancient history entitled: "Fear and Respect: Royal Security and the Mind of the King, 336 - 323 BC"

L-topia. (My laser cut acrylic puzzle game set. I will have this ready to sell by DragonCon, and will bring a few copies.)

My IF Work in Progress. (Which is definitely not going to be done for the fall comp. Maybe Adam Cadre's SpringComp.)

My next IF Work not yet in much Progress. (The fork game.)

The gtk compose sequence patch OF DOOM!

Turning my polyomino cover stuff into something that can be published, (probably in Geombinatorics.)

Also, I want to make a decent quality recording of myself singing my songs. (Oh, by the way, last night I figured out an ending to a song I wrote most of a couple years ago. So that's one more song that can go on it.)

Making more mistakes as women isn't in the cards, but maybe making more mistakes with women would be nice. ☺

A racing career
My two project cars
Megasquirt (not what you think, ask if you want to know)
all these computers I've got sitting around waiting on me to repair/use
Travelling everywhere is a project, right? and I mean everywhere, all around the world...
Friday, July 19th, 2002 09:47 am (UTC)
A zillion cross stitch patterns sit waiting for me to find time to work on them (after I flew on Dad & Lola's wedding sampler {2 months notice!}. These projects are being put off because of the house projects: painting every room, waiting for the contractor to come so we can rip up the upstairs and the bathroom, then building shelves in the office and the basement, and getting the Noah's Ark wallpaper off the bedroom, painting and papering the inside of the kitchen cabinets, and and and and.

I'm currently focusing on writing the outline of a novel called "Fat Cats" for a 3 Day Novel Writing Contest. I also have three knitting projects, a crochet project and one cross-stitch project, not to mention two drawing projects on the go. I especially want to focus on "Fat Cats" since that has a definitive deadline (Labour Day weekend).

3 Day Novel Writing Contest? What's that?
Friday, July 19th, 2002 10:38 am (UTC)
It's a writing contest run out of Vancouver, British Columbia by Anvil Press. During the Labour Day weekend, starting 12:01 a.m. Saturday you have three full days to write a novel. The contest ends the Monday at midnight. You then have another three days to make the thing look purty and then you send it in for judgement. :) I do this every year. I have yet to finish a novel in the three days.

It's fun though. I've learned a lot about writing and about how I write in the experience. This year I am determined to finish something.

You =could= always finish the Tarot deck...

(Actually, I'm just creebin' ya.)

[livejournal.com profile] terig & I have been working on a For Amusement Purposes Only Tarot deck in a universe we play in. One of MY 'projects in motion' is doing up a color version of the cards which currently only exist in black & white. I DO love Photoshop.

Add to that several short stories in several fan genres, ripping up living room carpeting to see what floor may exist underneath, finishing one yurt & repairing another for a camping trip in four weeks and sewing SHITLOADS of Medieval Clothing.

That's what I've been up to...

Lessee . . . I'm still trying to finish off last year's 30-day novel. Since the 30 days in question were last november, you can see how well that's going.

I'm in deep-background mode for another trilogy. Ditto for a possible comic-book.

I got two short-stories going, too.

And I got more than that, but that's enough to not finish for now. :)
