The issue will be solicited two months ahead of time so the comic shops can order it. Most comic shops will create and maintain a hold box for you - you tell them what comics you want, they'll order them every month.
We will probably also sell the issues from our website.
Either way, we'll keep everyone on LJ advised so you can order it!
Okay. So, you're going to be distributed by Diamond and such? I hadn't realized that you were being published by a real publisher and all. I apologize for the assumption of self-published.
Keep us (me!) informed and I'll tell my comicbook store to order it, I've already got a subscription but it's down to 2 or 3 comics these days.
Ooops, sorry - I lowered the explanation to Total Novice, not knowing what level of comics comprehension you were coming from... *guilty look*
Yes, self-publishing, in the comics world, is pretty much putting out anything yourself instead of through the Big Five. Cerebus, Strangers in Paradise, Elfquest - most of what lies beyond the Big Five listings in Diamond is totally self-published. We're in good company, and there's no stigma to it...
That's fine. Lowering to Total Novice and telling me too much is better than not telling me enough.
I usually reserve self-published for those who have their own distribution arrangements rather than the normal distributers. I guess I should properly call that self-distributed.
I usually use the term independent for the folks you are talking about.
So, are you in the solicitation phase yet? What is your publisher called?
