Had the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] glenn5 over for pasta and Simpsons. Was fun. :)

Went for a walk just now and not only decided what song lyric to open issue #3 with - I unblocked my block on the rest of issue #3. They don't have to be shown reaching the Sanctuary and talking to Jason - in fact, they shouldn't, Jason should be an enigma for a while yet. My alternative was to go back to Katrianna, picking up where I left off at the end of issue #2 - but I know what happens to her next, and it's godawful and audiences won't be ready for it. Plus, that leaves me with two plummeting down-notes in a row. So, since issue-#3-so-far closes with a reference to Alanna, I'm going back to our group in Shayara for the remainder of issue #3. And I'm thinking of having issue #4 as a Slackers-style series of vignettes, just following the characters around, because people will need to smile. We'll see. But I'm glad to be unblocked.

Eep. I hope these song lyrics are either your own or something you either have or can get permission to publish. The song lyric Copyright Nazis are way worse than all of the other kinds of Copyright Nazis combined, and their lawyers have twisted legal precedent beyond what one might reasonably expect to be considered fair use. Witness the recent Sluggy "Fire and Rain" scandal.

[livejournal.com profile] two_star beat me to it. Unless you know the band personally and have written permission from them, or the lyrics are in the public domain, or they're your own lyrics, don't do it. You'll be in for hell from the lawyers.

cheers,
Phil

A few lines, with full attribution given, is fair use; the Sluggy scandal was because he used the entire song.
