Left work at 2:30. Went to pick kid up. Bumped into her friend's dad, who invited her over to play. Great. So came home, changed to play clothes, go her over there. Now we're back. An hour after I left work.

I'm going to go lie down now, but first...a question! And yes, this one's a rerun:

Something you probably don't know about me: I collect Buddha statues. I have them in brass, jade, cinnabar, and faux-ivory.

Tell me something - anything - that I don't know about you.

And now I'm resting.

I have a photograph on display in a museum in Moscow.

MY ancestor Moses Fisk started the first school for women West of the Appalachians.

I am figity. I need to be doing something with my hands constantly, which usually means I take my rings on and off constantly (or spin them), tap on a surface, or bite my nails.

Oh! I do that too. I wear my rings out by doing that. And I drop them. And I was so freaked out when someone (hot) figured out that I fidget more when I'm nervous. He was like, "That's why you were playing with your hair earlier." And being as I'm not your wife, I wasn't able to say, "Heck yes, you're too hot, you make me nervous as anything."

I once got hate mail from Mary Daly, renowned radical lesbian feminist theologian, for the sin of writing her and asking if she had any "words" that meant, "Good Man."

That was very wicked of you. I love it!
Wednesday, August 14th, 2002 01:00 pm (UTC)
You know everything about me. this is demonstrated by the highest score on my friend's test, even over my husband. The only one you got wrong, wasn't really wrong. It was the sibling question. How many siblings do I have? answer = 5. You got 7 points for a brother. I have a half sister, a half brother, Donnie, whom you know and 2 step brothers.

My half sister also has 3 kids, and the daughter has at least one kid. And my half brother has 3 kids with at least one of them having a kid. I don't think any of my nieces or nephews are over 18.

But you already knew my family was full of freaks.

Yeah, I was totally amused that I outscored Howard. Dude! What did he get wrong?

HHHHMMM let's see... I've had unsafe sex and been lucky enough to not have gotten HIV.

I've been stupid and spent into rent money when I knew better.

I've eaten out of dumpsters and lost my mind at one time.

I tried to commit suicide the first time at 11.

I've been in love with someone who I never met.

I've been gay bashed 3 times.

I am scared of gay guys who are larger than I or more physically intimidating than I am because when I was 19 I met a guy on line who played on my idiocy and brought me on a trip to see him where he beat me and locked me in his apartment.

I have never broken a bone.

That should do it for now. *waves* *trots off to next interesting question*é

I love to bake things. For a while I was on a cake decorating binge, the more eloborate the better. I made a "Cool for Cats" (squeeze) cake for [livejournal.com profile] podling's birthday before I even really knew her. The best was Ben's though. I asked him what he wanted, and he said, in jest, "a colorblind test". (He's red-green colorblind) I took it as a challenge. He didn't believe me that I could do it. But I made three darkness levels each of pink and green, such that the strength of the colors in the three shades matched. And then in dots of various sizes I wrote two messages, in dark versus light "Happy Birthday" and in red versus green "Trust the Psi Core" (my atrocious spelling strikes again). I put a splattering of extra dots around the cake, but had already been at it for >2 hours, so eventually had to give up on the covering the entire sheet cake in 1 mm dots plan. But the two messages were right smack on top of each other. "Normal" people had great difficulty finding "happy birthday". But I didn't tell anyone that there were two messages (except Ed.. and Jay... (ok so I have difficulty keeping surprises to myself)) .

So Ben comes in, and scoffs "oh I can read that, that's easy." Ed goes, "what does it say, Ben?", "happy birthday" in an entirely condescending tone. Everyone lost it, especially those who hadn't been able to see the dark/light message. He was just like, what? what? Ed "it says trust the psi corps, Ben" "yeah, right, whatever, cute guys" Phil- "no really, she misspelled corps, like apple core". Ben "that's Cara alright, wow." He was duly impressed. Still thought I was a whacko, or rather, now had further confirmation of this, but was appropriately gratious in admitting my cake decorating prowess.

My mother's aunt left me (I have no idea why) the world's ugliest Art Deco necklace. It's platinum with little diamonds. It's worth a freaking (to me) fortune, esp for something that ugly. When I have my own place, or I'm at least some place I plan to stay, I will sell the necklace and buy a horse.

Both of my grandmothers were born out of wedlock and raised by their grandmothers.

My Confirmation name is Irenaea, after a nun who died when I was a freshman in high school, and the other nuns were so touched they gave me her cross. Of course, I was soon to become pagan and already knew I was doing the Confirmation to make the parents happy and to get the presents.

The first rock album I ever bought for myself was AC/DC Back in Black.
Tuesday, August 20th, 2002 08:13 am (UTC)
My confirmation name was Genevieve. I knew I was pagan when I did my confirmaton too. It was entirely to make the parents happy because I wasn't ready to tell them about my religious preferences yet, and couldn't come up with another excuse to get out of it. I've felt guilty about that my whole life.
