I 'splained the seven-week medical double-dipping to my boss...
Boss: "Do you not want to take sick time to help deal with this, physically? Or do you just not have any to take?"
Me: "I really don't have any. The appointments themselves are taking up all of my sick time!"
Boss: "When's your appointment today?"
Me: "Two. I'll eat at my desk to make up an hour, if that's okay..."
Boss: "Sure. Which appointment is this one?"
Me: "General practitioner. The neurologist can't figure out why I'm still losing weight, so they've told me that I need to go to a GP. They did tests on liver, kidney, and thyroid, but they're still stumped..."
Boss: "Well, those are the big ones..."
Me: "Yeah. I'm relieved to know that it's not that."
Boss: "Still... is there a way we could work a little time off to help you get some rest?"
Me: "Well, I've thought of short-term disability - but the semester's about to start."
Boss: "That's right... the timing would be terrible."
Me: "Yep. I mean, I could take lunches at my desk so I could leave early when I need to..."
Boss: "That's not good for you... I don't know. We'll think about this."
Is good that she is concerned.
Sucks that it's so obvious that my body isn't coping.
Ray of hope in the idea of short-term disability... or going part-time (but over 30 hours so's not to lose benefits) for a couple of weeks maybe. Less money, but I'm confident that my parents would help us meet our expenses for a brief time.
It's just... good to know that I don't have to Iron-Man it all day, that my issue is acknowledged and assistance is being considered.
And she's a little freaked out that they have me on so MUCH medicine. "Have they weighed you? Don't they understand how small you are? That's so much medicine!"

The weekend after the semester starts, after all of the first-week stuff is smoothed out, I'm off to Boston for a weekend with Master. That will help.
