Mom: "Hi. Where are your dishtowels?"
Me: "Hall closet. What did Elayna spill?"
Mom: "Nothing. I'm doing your dishes."
Me: "Oh! Thanks?"
Mom: "So if you can't find anything in your kitchen, it's because I've been here. Also, you said there are spare hangers - where are they?"
Me: "Closet behind the door in my bedroom."
Mom: "Okay. I'm going to be putting Elayna's clothes away, too."

Whoa.

I guess there's an up side to this?

The porn is hidden. I am unconcerned about that.

I'm gonna try to be less posty now.

Sweet! Ya gotta love cleanliness-oriented houseguests who have too much time on their hands. ;o)

This is so out of character for my mom. We tend to have a cordial tolerance for each other, with occasional flares of animosity. (They're not staying at my house; it'd take about 24 hours til the screaming began!)

So... Mom's helping. It's so weird.

Ya know, when you put it that way, that is weird. Either way, gift horse yada yada. :)

Yup. :)

Your mom never struck me as the dish doing type. She always seemed to be the don't want to mess up my manicure type to me.

Yes. You of all people grok the weirdness.

She went to the doctors with you. She must have heard and seen how bad things are. She is probably trying to reduce some of the stressers in your life.

And at least the porn is hidden.
Or so you think. Moms always find your porn stash. Always. ; )

The porn is in [livejournal.com profile] yendi's office. I guarantee you she ain't goin' in there.

I agree with a previous poster that your mom has finally clued in on how rough things have gotten.

So she's helping. It may have taken you being transported to Bizarro Universe, but she's helping. :)

Wow. My grandma coming in and doing the dishes is nothing. She complains if we won't let her....

My mom gets like this -- helpful for a bit when the extent of the crisis or hardship is shoved in her face. It never lasts long but I enjoy while it does. Hopefully, yours will last but if not, it is helpful to have the dishes done.

My one roommate's mom seems to be like this too. However, she's started being more helpful all the time. Scary.

Funny that you assumed your child spilled something. My child is only 4 but still my first assumption is that my HUSBAND spilled something. And he would be the first to agree.

My fiance wasn't there. :)
