So we get a call last night. 9:30ish. From the assistant leader of Elayna's old troop. They're having a little ceremony at the troop leader's house on Saturday, sort of a rededication, and a bridging for the girls going to Juniors. And that's where and when the girls are *finally* getting the Try-its that they earned all last year.

Okay, ignore the fact that I'm getting less than two days' notice. This is standard for this troop.

Not only is it recommended by the GSUSA, but it's just basic common sense - give the girls the Try-its soon after they've earned them. Why? So they know what they earned it for! A 7-year-old is not going to equate a patch she receives in midAugust with the activities that she did in January.

Besides, I already bought her all the patches I could figure that she'd earned.

Anyway. Not going to the ceremony; she has karate. I've e-mailed Toni to request that she send the patches in to school for Elayna.

So glad she doesn't have to deal with this on a monthly basis next year. Although there is one thing that I might like all three troops to coordinate on... I definitely want my troop to participate in the 90th-anniversary celebration parade. And it would be nice if all three Brownie troops march together. The other troop leader, henceforth known as A., is actually really cool, though, so at least her troop and mine will be good together.
