And the week is half over...

Administration
Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] rubrchick - and also condolences on the loss of her beloved cat. :(

Welcome to new reader [livejournal.com profile] wilfulcait and returning reader [livejournal.com profile] seattlejo!

Girl Scout Cookies
We're up to 375 + whatever [livejournal.com profile] yendi has sold since Monday! [livejournal.com profile] yendi - how many?

As for postage - it looks like it varies for each zip code. :( I'm going to give y'all the weight of each box under the cut tag, and I'll ask you to pretty please calculate your own, because in most cases I don't know where you live and I don't want to give you inaccurate information. For packaging, I'll be using standard priority mail boxes in whatever size necessary, so packaging won't add weight. Except for those of you who are ordering cases - those are going to need a big box. Those of you who were waiting for postage info, there y' go.

Cookie sales end on Saturday.

Cookie Weight! )

Cookie Sale info is here! Thanks.

As for payment: I'm going to request that as many of you as possible pay now; I'll have [livejournal.com profile] yendi create a PayPal account for this, and I'll also take checks - e-mail me for my name. The council is accepting cash only. Which I think is stupid. So stuff has to come to me, I cash it, I give it to them. The reason I'm asking for payment in advance - I'm financially responsible for every box we put in for! If we have booth sales, I can sell the extras then, but dude.

Pimpage
[livejournal.com profile] softlywhispered needs help - her cat is very ill, and she can't afford medical treatment! She's terrified that she'll have to put the cat to sleep. Please help the kitty.

Right, then

"The beauty of blogging is that we are able to broadcast thoughts and ideas as we have them (or as quick as we can type them). The downside at times, is that the blog can often expose our vulnerabilities, doubts & fears. If we are going through a period of time where all we write about is, for example, sex...we run the risk of people thinking that we are sex-addicted. If we dare question religion, we're Satanist Fags bound for the depths of Hades.

The lesson I'm trying to put out there for you today is this: Web logs are incredible as communication tools, but they have their weaknesses. It's a dangerous thing to form unflinching opinions based solely on what you read in someone's journal. When you don't know someone aside from what is on their mind at the moment in time that they create a web post, you only have a tiny snapshot of who that person is and what they are about. Don't think yourself more informed than you are and don't rush to judgement without being 100% that you've got all of the facts. If all else fails, ask for clarification when you're not sure you understand something."

[livejournal.com profile] michaelnolan rocks and he's dead sexy and so you should all read him.

Y'know, it kind of takes one aback when one picks up the phone at work and does the professional greeting in one's lowest register and gets in response, "Are you hungry?"

Takes a minute to adjust. But lo, I am being whisked off to lunch.

Those of you who have known me for a while know how I get about my birthday.

I freakin' love my birthday. My 16th birthday party was the only good one I had in my childhood/adolescence (we attended a writing workshop and went to see Nightbreed and bought $40 worth of candy). And early adulthood, come to think of it.

I've only started to reclaim my birthday in the past five years. So I'm making up for lost time.

We will have two(!) ice cream cakes from Brusters! And party favors! And there will be music and celebration! And I'm flying a cute boy down for the occasion! And I'll start working out the details soon.

This will be my 30th birthday. It is a milestone. So it will rock.

My birthday is March 2nd, and I'm planning already.

I am the Birthday Princess.

Have you calculated your postage cost at the US Post Office site?

Ordered all the cookies you want? (We're 30 boxes away from the highest prize!)

Okay.

EDIT: I have no idea why it defaults to $10. Ignore it.

* Please e-mail me your name if you used an e-mail address other than [you] AT livejournal.com.

* PayPal takes a little off the top. So it's not an obligation to chip in a tiny bit more, but it would be cool.

* I'll be making the list tomorrow morning of whose orders I have; make sure you see your name and order! If you don't, comment to remind me.

FYI - I have the rape crisis center training tomorrow; it's 9:30 - 2:30, and I'll be going straight from there to work...

So. I'm gonna be 100% offline after I make the cookie post first thing in the morning, and I will not have time to catch up tomorrow night. So. Standard rules apply. If you have something you want me to see, e-mail me the link. And I'll tend to all cookie-order stuff when I get home tomorrow night.
