Four hours.

That's how long I could stand having my hair down today.

It's still half-down... I have the front (frizzier) bits pulled back in a barrette.

What bugs you about having your hair down?

I keep mine back at work to keep it out of the computers if I'm working on them.
Monday, August 19th, 2002 08:16 am (UTC)
It gets in my face. Plus it frizzes if I leave the house without it being completely dry. :(
Monday, August 19th, 2002 08:16 am (UTC)
My hair is getting seriously long again. I'm having it cut before I come up there. It's just in my face and in my way and too damn hot.
I'm thinking REALLY short.

One of the first things I must do, upon meeting you, is braid your hair. :)

I dunno about Samhain, BTW. Chris reminded me that we had decided NO MORE long trips in this car. It acts very, very badly on long drives. Checking out the $ of other alternatives.
Monday, August 19th, 2002 08:22 am (UTC)
Oooooh... yes, play with my hair however you like. :)

And poo! on the other part.. :(

Well, I got a rate check on car rental. A compact car from Enterprise, unlimited mileage, for 5 days, is only $143.95. That's highly plausible, I think...

Chris made some comment, though, about travelling to *places* we wanted to go, and visiting people if they happen to be there. *rolling eyes* He had fun enough when we went to Austin to visit people. *grumble*

(If I can work the finances, though, I'm fairly sure I can convince him on the trip. ;)

Check out budget.com. They used to have the $20 Rent a Ranger deal. Which was like $20 a day, unlimited mileage. And it's like a cute little pick-up truck, great for 2 people or even a third can sit in the little foldy seats in the back if they're small, and every time I've rented one, they came with a tail gate cover for luggage transport. 5 days would probably be a little over $100 rather than the $143 you have at enterprise.

Ooooh pick-em-up truck for *cheaper* than a compact car? That would be *fabulous*...

budget's economy car is $119 but that was as cheap as I could find ya =)

Ah, but we're looking at the end of October, and that deal ends in September. :)

I don't know if we're actually going to go or not...much discussion with Chris ahead...but at least I know the financial part is do-able. $200 for car rental ($150, about, plus oh-my-gods fees and taxes!!) is less than the amount I've been putting towards my drums each month, and *they* get paid off on October 1. Woohoo!!!
Monday, August 19th, 2002 10:09 am (UTC)
Regrettably, I do not see a Rent a Ranger deal any longer. *pout* I could still rent the Ranger, but it would be $174.95 for the five days.

I'm sorry! That sucks. I'll look when I get home, maybe I can find something. I'll let you know.

Atlanta is a *fabulous* place. :)

I do understand. The first things I do when I get home from work are kick off shoes, remove jewelry, pull hair up.

I've decided that one of the first things I will do when I have a new job is go to a fancy, expensive, competent-with-curly-long-hair salon and get a good haircut. Not short, not drastic, just shaped so I can wear it with *nothing* in it. I nearly *always* have a headband, a clip, a barrette, or some other device in it.

And I'm thinking about dyeing it again. It's been since January, so I have grown-out regular brown dye, highlights over that, and 6 inches of my natural hair color--mouse brown with silver strands here and there.

People who say, "but your hair looks so pretty when you wear it down" have never had hair like mine. It's not that I hate it down, it's that it's hot, and it won't behave, and I can't tuck it behind my ears cause there's too much of it and it still sneaks out and falls all over my face. And mind you, this is just with hair barely below my shoulders.

I like wearing it down. I think it's pretty, and I love swishing it, but it's a freaking pain and so I save it for special occasions, or air conditioned buildings.
Monday, August 19th, 2002 08:34 am (UTC)
See, you have just totally described my hair. :)
Monday, August 19th, 2002 08:33 am (UTC)
I love long hair, worn down, on women.

But I understand why you wouldn't like it. My hair used to be a foot and a half long, and it was very annoying. Either it'd hang down in front of my face, and give me a headache, or I'd tie it back and it would pinch my follicles and give me a headache.
Monday, August 19th, 2002 08:36 am (UTC)
I don't get a headache... my hair isn't that long anymore. The longest parts of it reached my butt when I had it chopped off in January to above-shoulder-length. And hell, you know what it looks like now.

It just brushes against my face all day and drives me nuts. Plus the headband was too tight. Ouchy behind the ears.

The longest parts of it reached my butt

Damn, but I wish I could have seen that!
Monday, August 19th, 2002 10:03 am (UTC)
Hm. I think there *may* be a pic or two from Thanksgiving. I'll have to look.
Monday, August 19th, 2002 10:44 am (UTC)
Pfft. :) Mine, when dry was a little below butt-length (I could just about sit on my braid, and my braid was about the length it was down and dry, since my hair is curly and more annoyingly, fluffy.) Wet though, it was nearly to the back of my knees. I still miss it being that long now and then, but it was just too freaking much hair to do anything with. So I got it chopped to shoulder length before study abroad, and then down to super-short before graduation. I've been getting regular cuts lately, or it would be down to my waist again, I think. I keep getting more than an inch taken off when I get it 'trimmed.' I should dig up various hair lengths for my mood pictures. :)

Paul has a thing for ponytails. :) I think it is because I wore mine that way alot in high school. So some of his sensabilities were set then.

I still usually wear my hair up in some way, if not in a ponytail. Now I have the excuse that I am not lazy, I am trying to turn my husband on. ;)
Monday, August 19th, 2002 09:27 am (UTC)
Kerri, my ex, was the same way. Until she finally buzzed it off. Very short hair now. Shorter than mine. I like mine kinda longish, but shortish at the same time. But there was a time when I could pull it all back into a topknot. That was fun.

Shave your head?
Monday, August 19th, 2002 10:05 am (UTC)
Nonono shave my head!

My hair looks luscious when things are done to it. I just lack the patience to do such things. But I like having the options.
Monday, August 19th, 2002 11:18 am (UTC)
then by all mean, keep you wonderful coif. have fun with it.
Monday, August 19th, 2002 01:00 pm (UTC)
Once at work, I passed a woman who said "Don't you ever wear your hair down?" (That day I had a ponytail on the side of my head, very 80's.) It's hot on my neck, it creeps over my shoulders and wisps around my face, it gets blown in messy directions. However, I know I look better w/my hair down, so I'll take out the hair-scrunchies when with an SO or for special events or occasions.

Short hair on me = never gonna happen, until and unless things change drastically in my life (disease, natural disaster, horrible hair accident).

I've been taking to wearing my hair down more. My hair's the sort that gets tangled (I've been considering grumping, as it's a manufacturer's defect) at a breath of air, but doesn't show it for a while, though I can feel the tangles. It looks better down than up, but I tend to wear it up to keep it out of my way...
