Had you told me 10 years ago that I'd be propped up on orange cafeteria chairs waiting for my knee to stop spasming, surrounded by first- and second-graders (and happy about it!), holding a bag containing a feeder goldfish my kid just won, and having just paid 3 tickets for a manicure performed by a third-grader, I would have requested some of the drugs that you were obviously on. :)

We spent $20 on tickets, $3 on a school T-shirt, $4 for Elayna to do sand art (in a cute bottle with a Spongebob sticker), and $57 at the silent auction: $20 for ARCs of the new Clive Barker and two other books, and $37 on a kickass basket of road trip boredom-busters assembled by one of the classes (the basket itself is worth the money; it's huge and gorgeous, and will now be a magazine & catalog holder). And we spent $19 on stuff to bake for the bake sale, which ended up being a "cake walk" and not a bake sale - like musical chairs, but the winner of each round gets baked goods.

Joke from Elayna: "What does a baby ant call its mother's sister's husband? Its uncle. See, because there are two kinds of ants. Ant, aunt."

Ummyeah.

So yes. She had a fabulous time - got her face painted, her nails done, won a fishie, bounced in the bounce house, etc. And now Adam and I are going to go pull together our comics order.

In the new book, is there any smallville stuff? Not that I could afford it or anything, just checking =)

Yes - the action figures! It says they're due Oct. 3. And they show pictures of them in Wizard magazine, with a thoughtbubble over Clark's head of "Oh, Lana..." and one over Lex's head of "Oh, Clark..." Wizard sees the HoYay!

I already new that date. *grumblegrumble* I want the calendar.

I was thinking of buying you the calendar as a birthday gift, but then I decided you would already know about it and would have purchased it for yourself by that time....

treat that fishie right, and it'll live as long as my niece's Tiger the Wonder Fish -- she won it at a carnival when she was eight. she's 17 now. the fish is still alive. better yet, it's smeggin' huge -- my sister just kept moving him to bigger tanks, and he just kept growing, and growing...

Oooh! I'm gonna suggest Tiger the Wonder Fish as the name. She's currently calling it Goldie.... *eyeroll* And it's currently living in a Burger King Mickey Mouse glass.
