...started off with fire and explosions. Go look at [livejournal.com profile] yendi's journal, then come back here.

[livejournal.com profile] deza had brought a bag full of manuals, and I seized upon the Big Eyes, Small Mouth one, begging to play a magical girl. Dude. You guys don't know. You can have "seduction" as a skill in BESM. You can opt for "distracted by shiny things" as a character defect. I could make a character that's just like me! So while poor Mike was trying to get things settled, I was going, "Oooh! Shiny!" every time I turned a page in BESM, and I kinda ticked him off. I sowwy, Mike.

After hashing out different setting and campaign ideas, we finally settled on one ripped off from a book [livejournal.com profile] deza read, where the world is now entirely Good, and the last truly Neutral person decides that Evil must be brought back into the world in order to maintain balance, so they recruit, well, us, who're all neutral and have to try to figure out how to be Evil.

So we roll characters. I get the highest stats. *preen* [livejournal.com profile] deza is going to have to explain our stat-rolling method so [livejournal.com profile] arkhamrefugee and John can use it. And I'm going to be a half-elven thief, and [livejournal.com profile] deza's a half-elven blade, and Thomas is a human fighter, and [livejournal.com profile] yendi changed what he was going to be, like, eleventy-seven times, so I don't know what he is now.

And, um, that is pretty much it for now.

I'm a Gnomish Illusionist/Thief. What's so hard to remember about that? And I'm contemplating taking the name of Tripod, just so [livejournal.com profile] deza can't nickname my character that as she threatened. :-)
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 05:26 am (UTC)
Yeah, but you insisted through most of the evening that you were gonna be a Ranger. So I forgot which one you eventually settled on.

Goddamn you! You stole my character class and race!! ARGH! Now I can't play. My creativity has just been theived... DAMN! DAMN YOU AAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!! ;-)

Or not. ;-)

*pet* *pet* Silly boy. See what you missed? Hot girl-on-girl action and the chance to have dibs on your favorite race & class...
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 07:26 am (UTC)
Bleh. Well, you guys missed the insane Star Wars action I had going. And just so's you all know, the story arc ended last night, so I'm now going to work on my Call of Cthulhu game. But that won't likely start for a while, cause I don't want to trample on games and because I need to get all my material done.

As for the stat-rolling method: Create a 4x4 grid. Then roll four dice, drop the lowest, and put the total into the first box. Repeat and put the next total into the second box, etc. When you have all 16 boxed filled, pick any one of the ten straight lines (horizontal, vertical, diagonal), and use those four stats. Then roll three dice twice, and those are your final two stats (not in order, of course -- place the stats wherever seems best).
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 08:26 am (UTC)
Sorry, I failed calculus in college. Could you explain that in english?
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 08:45 am (UTC)
Okay. You get the idea of rolling four dice and dropping the lowest, right? So do that 16 times, and write the results down in order in a square, like so:

Then pick a straight line -- across, down, or diagonal, which has the best set of numbers, and those four numbers are four of your stats.

The remaining two stats are determined the old-fashioned way -- roll three dice.

Ooooooooookay...

I think I like my way better. 4d6, drop the lowest die. Roll six times. If you have one roll that is 16 or better, you have to keep all scores. Arrange to taste.

It very much was! :)

Definitely much fun was ahd by all--or this part of all, at least.

*smooch*
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 06:01 am (UTC)
This part of all, too. :)

Ever since I happened to see an episode of "The Invisible Man" on SciFi in which one of the characters is mentioned as having a top level rating in all skills, including CTS (corruption/temptation/seduction), I've wanted to see that as a skill in an RPG *G* I think my D&D character (who is neutral good) is settling for "extremely distracting" at the moment.
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 06:47 am (UTC)
That Tarafear doesn't have CTS? C'mon. She led those Elven duellist around by the....sword belt?
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 06:54 am (UTC)
Okay, okay, that's at least T and S. But she didn't really CORRUPT them, right? I mean, I am quite sure that she could have kept them from their appointed duties had she truly decided that she wanted to do so, and she didn't.
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 07:22 am (UTC)
Well, maybe we can have a BESM campaign sometime! :) Are you an anime fan?
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 07:27 am (UTC)
I don't think I've ever watched any anime to speak of.
Wednesday, June 5th, 2002 07:30 am (UTC)
We could give you a crash course. :) Seriously, BESM looks like a really fun system - I wanna play!
