Have you ever read a novel or story by Philip K. Dick?

His writing is surreal. It's *twisty*; at times almost hallucinatory. It's visionary. And you never know exactly what the hell is going on, until you do - or do you?

Minority Report was a Philip K. Dick story in motion.

I mean it. Screw Total Recall, screw Blade Runner, which only vaguely resembled its source material and didn't capture any of the real *intent*.

Minority Report *felt* like Philip K. Dick *thought*.

Oh, it was good. It was very, very good. Seriously. Tonight [livejournal.com profile] yendi and I have had the privilege of previewing one of the two best movies of 2002.

Go see it. Comes out on Friday. See it on Saturday too. And Sunday.

I'm still in awe, because it was *perfect*.

And just for those who are wondering, I loved Blade Runner and thought it captured the intent of PKD damned near perfectly, and I still think Minority Report is leagues better.

How would you compare it to Spielberg's last film, A.I. Artificial Intelligence?

Haven't seen A.I.

Oooooooh. I didn't know it was a PKD story. Now I *have* to go see it. I had considered it...was mostly putting it in the "see at dollar theatre" category, but that sounds worth at least a matinee first run price. :)

Thanks for the review!

Definitely see it. Like this weekend. Very good.

I *love* PKD...

I suspected it was when I saw the preview, although I hadn't read the short story in question. I suspected Dick, I was sure if it wasn't him it was a short story adaptation. Must say somethign about either the film or the preview that it gave me that impression.

that's probably the best thing you could say about the film. i was interested in seeing it before, but now i'm positively bouncing up and down.

hrm. i was going to say "i love Dick!" but, well, you know. i mean, i *do*.

never mind.

"i was going to say "i love Dick!" but, well, you know. i mean, i *do*."

Yeah. Me too. In both meaning of the phrase. :)

Heh. I would have never guessed you were a big Dick fan.

I still have not seen Minority Report, having heard nothing good about it when it first hit theaters. Perhaps I was listening to the wrong people, back then.

[livejournal.com profile] pharminatrix and I use that joke, and variations of it, a lot.

Always listen to me. I'm always right. And we'll watch it while you're here.
