Writing Update: I'm so excited that the writing is starting to flow in script form. For those of you just tuning in, I've always written short stories, novels, etc., so comic-book scripting is very New and Different, like having to describe a room in detail before I do anything else, wheras when writing in prose, you can have the conversation going for five pages before a character notices that unusual vase - with comics, I have to tell mouse that that vase is there first thing. This has been a challenge, but it's starting to really work, I think.

Elayna Update: I didn't get to talk to her (she's like me, *really* has to be in the mood to pick up a phone), but I got the report from Mom - she *loved* Lilo & Stitch and had a great time at the museum. Turns out, btw, that there are 14 kids in her cabin - and 5 counselors/C.I.T.s, etc. Great ratio!

Nothing much else going on. Had a good long talk (yes, actually on the phone!) last night with the friend I was talking about yesterday, and we both feel all resolved and stuff, and That Is Good.

So. Goal for today, script more. :) Oh, and what are you guys reading?

Lunch: Syne Mitchell, "Murphy's Gambit"
Home: Brady Udall, "The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint"
Just finished: "Happiness (tm)", by Will Ferguson, which rocked my socks.

I Used to Have a Handle on Life But It Broke ... one of those self help books for women that do too much. So far it's not bad, but I'm not sure what I'm getting out of it. My TBR (To Be Read) pile is now 50+ strong and growing... I need to find some serious reading time!!!!

I gave myself serious reading time on Sunday; read three books. Very happy about that.

*envy envy envy* In the days BB (Before Boychild), I used to have these afternoons where I'd curl up with a pile of books and a plate of good things to eat... Maybe hubby needs to take the boychild away for an afternoon so I can do that again...

Seriously, have him do that.

I only got so much reading time because Miss Kid is with her granparents for the summer...

Reading part 2 of _To Green Angel Tower_, the end of Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy. I needed something light. Also have started _The Unburied_ by Charles Palliser and put down _Weaveworld_ by Clive Barker because it was just too heavy. I needed something light and high fantasy.

My too be read pile is also toppling over.

I have four "to read" piles. *guilty look*

my too be read pile takes up about 3 bookshelves of books I own and well over 100 books on a list to check out of the library or buy when I get the time/money. And I keep adding more.

I'm re-reading the 4th Harry Potter book. It's sad. My reading consists of fanfic, and children's books. You can tell I'm intelligent.

Hey, you *know* I love children's books. :)

Still working my way through _One Hundred Years of Solitude_ during lunch and _Mind of the Raven_ at home. Both are very good, if a little slow going. As much as I'm enjoying _Mind of the Raven_ I've never been good at reading non-fiction for long periods of time, and _One Hundred Years of Solitude_ is one of those books that I like to read a little at a time and savour rather than rushing through.

Note to self: must stop reading fanfic and online comics and read more actual books.
