I am utterly exhausted.

But Miss Kid's room is really taking shape.

Speaking of Miss Kid: [livejournal.com profile] gardengnome calls her son Little Man. I call Elayna Miss Kid or Jade (her middle name). The rest of you with kids: what do you call them when you're not calling them by their actual name? Those of you without kids: did you have parent-given nicknames? What were they?

My parents called me Hurricane and my sister Disaster. My grandpa called my sister Boogerschnatz. Thankfully, he had no nickname for me.

Fortunately, I was not. :)

Grandpa generally only had nicknames for people he didn't like. I don't think my sister has realized that....

Bitch? Do you know what "schatz" means? *pout* And here I thought it would be nice to give you a *nice* name in German to balance out the irritating one...

*grins at the tacklehug and hugglepounces right back*

my family mostly calls me "julie" or "jules", but when I was really little, my dad used to call me Bad Hair, cause I was a little bit of a troublemaker... I loved it.

Joe is usually 'Buddy' or 'Skeezix' (no idea how to spell it, so I guessed).
Growing up, my dad called me 'pixie' and my Grandpa called me 'Alex' (because my middle name is Alexandra). Oh and Mom called me Suzy. Which isn't even close to my real name. Parents.

Son -- Hubby calls him Sinjin (short for St. John - his middle name). I call him "little guy" sometimes, but usally it's "sweetness." I'm not keen on the shortenings of his name -- but others call him Nic to my chagrin. My brother calls him Nicky. Little Miss and his cousins calls him Nic Nic.

Me -- many have called me Jen or Jeni. Most of my family still calls me Tinkerbell. (Repeat that to the timeladies and you will die, Deza!!). Hubby calls me Angel. My grandfather called me "Stinkerbell," though he called my sisters "Stinkerbutt" -- now I'm guessing, going on your theory, Song, that probably means he liked me more. Many have been known to call me b*tch. :-) In high school, some nasty people called me "Lemon Squeeze" and "Jugs" (yes, they ARE HUGE.) And my mother still calls me Lucy, in reverance to Lucy from Peanuts (who I am told I looked like as a child.)

My favorite name -- Mommy.

I don't think I really had a nickname growing up, except the one the man next door gave me, which still gives me bad flashbacks when I see other people being called by it. (The man next door being the cause of the vast majority of my difficulty with men, and we'll leave it at that.)

My two oldest sisters both ended up with nicknames (Anniwa because our nephew couldn't say "Angela" for a long time, and Jo, which has a long story of evolution), and after a while of being Iroshi, Anni decided to give me the nickname of Ro, which has worked out well. My parents never could get the hang of calling me Iro, but they don't seem to have trouble with Ro, for some reason. The sister-with-no-nickname, Sheryl, still calls me by my birthname, as does Jo and...well, pretty much everybody in KC except for Mom, Dad, and Anni. :(

My kids never had much in the way of nicknames, by their own choices. Christian was *very* particular. He even snapped at his grandfather once when he tried to call him "Chris". His name was *Christian*, thank you very much. *giggle* My oldest daughter switched from her first name of Sharon to going by her middle name of Rose when she was about three, and stuck with that. Grace decided to go by her middle name of Hannah for a while, but she's since switched back. She has a nickname -- Spacey Gracey, which makes her roll her eyes, but giggle. She protests, but not too loudly yet. It still amuses her, even though she claims to be outraged. Josiah gets calls Jo from time to time, especially by his aunts. Robert Calvin has yet to decide exactly what he wants to be called. It changes from week to week, whether he is "Robert", "Calvin", "RC", or just plain "Bob". :) Collectively, I tend to call them rugrats.

hee! you've heard me call the twins downstairs Boodle (sometimes just "Boo") and Doodle.

the son of a couple of friends of mine gets called "The Bean" all the time because that's what they called him before he was born. The Bean's father's cousin's daughter is "The Pink Lady" for reasons unknown to me.

my brother and i never had any weird parentally-assigned nicknames growing up. unfortunately...

My mother's family has always called me Missy. My maternal grandmother started it. She also called me "beautiful blue-eyed angel sweetheart," though I have no clue why. My paternal grandmother called me "Little Princess." I only acted like a princess around her. My paternal grandfather still calls me "Dollbaby" today.

Heaven only knows how she came up with this one, but Mom used to call me "Tootsie Pooh Pumpkin Pie." She still calls me Pooh. The Pooh part I can understand--I did have a good bit of Winnie-the-Pooh stuff as a kid. The rest is a mystery. Dad has always used my full name or "Miss Meliss."

Kimberly, one of my prime high school era babysitting victims, couldn't say "Melissa" when she first started using my name, so she always called me "Missa" or "Missala." I told The Wendies, two of my school friends, about it, so they called me Missa, too. My friend Heidi called me "Liss." Like I used to say, I'd answer to just about anything other than "Yo, Vinnie!" College and later friends have called me "Mel," but one of my current friends is a Melanie who *prefers* Mel, so that has dropped off a lot.

I have never liked my name, and I have an even suckier middle name, but I have yet to find the perfect pseudonym or nom de plume. Missy is a Persian cat name, Mel is a trucker name, and Liss is too close to Lisa (another friend). When Miss Treska and I roadtripped, we decided that our Road Sister names were Daisy (me) and Lily (her). Daisies are my birthflowers (and my favorites, too). I'm probably not girlie enough to be a Daisy, alas. Cool name, though (and I will admit that I've considered naming a theoretical child Marguerite and calling her Daisy).

I call Henry "Bear" and Lucy "Boo" for the most part -- not sure why. Sometimes it's "Henry-Bear" and "Lucy-Boo." I also call Lucy "Miss Lucy" and "The Girl" and Henry "The Boy."
