Hello to new friend
catalyxt, who apparently got me through
auryn29a! *wave*
So. Tomorrow's the Girl Scout parent meeting... an organizational meeting where we talk about the year to come and everything. And, frankly, I'm petrified. I've never done anything like this before, and I'm really worried that I'm going to suck and screw up these kids' Girl Scouting experience. Plus, it's recently occurred to me that I have volunteered for many many things this year - leading this troop, helping with Council-level stuff, being on the PTA book fair committee, being a freshman-advising-program staff leader... am I setting myself up for a nervous breakdown here? Only time will tell...
At least my writing isn't suffering for it. :) Like I said last night, I finished issue #4 last night, and I'm really pleased with the way it turned out, and so is
yendi; Mouse was up late webmonkeying and doesn't seem to have read it yet. But
yendi agrees that the interactions really worked - that I was able to communicate everything I wanted in a few lines of dialogue per interaction, and expand on these characters and how they relate to each other. Which is a relief, because writing in this style was a challenge... picture me with a stopwatch, saying, "Okay, I have 2/3 of a script page between two characters who've never spoken to each other to communicate why there are no L'Arathi girls in the city... GO!" But it seems to have worked, according to
yendi; I look forward to Mouse's opinion. Oh, and I'm 'specially proud of Alanna's scene, in which I swear the dialogue came right down through the aether into my hands; my brain did not formulate this dialogue, and it kinda spooked me, but in a good way.
Next up: Now that I'm accustomed to writing in script form, I'm going to go back and tighten up issues #1 and #2 (for those of you who've read those scripts, don't worry, I'm not changing big chunks - I just think I can make it flow a little better, particularly Shawn's inner monologue), and add more detail to all four scripts (forgot to put in what Brendan's wearing - jeans and a button-down shirt over a T-shirt). And then I'll work on Issue #5, which is already starting to write itself in my head: It's Tessa's crew's road trip to Boston to pick up Lyric. Scenes of the road trip itself will be interspersed with their briefing re: Julia and Shawn's recollections of the night Julia disappeared, as he writes them in his journal. I'd originally planned to have issue #5 be them picking Lyric up in Boston, but I think we need more time to get to know Tessa's crew before Lyric steps in and changes the dynamic, so you get an issue in between. So we get "Road Trip", then issue #6, "Too Far Away".
Tonight I need to clean my house in preparation for the Girl Scout meeting. That may be *all* I do tonight. *wry smile* And then tomorrow, after the meeting, Movie Night - and I'll have Sunday to hypothetically relax before the onslaught of DragonCon *stuff*.
Wearing: Fake Docs, jeans, stretchy striped shirt that makes me look like I still have a waist and enhances The Boobs, hair in stealth pigtails.
Reading: Still Pat Cadigan's "Dervish is Digital" at work; Peter David's "Woad to Wuin" at home. And Girl Scout books. Many of them.
You?

Wearing: Typical all black attire. Jeans, t-shirt. And a pewter Chaos pendant.
Reading: I'm still going through back-issues of comics. I read the last part of No Man's Land this morning and cried. I was actually in tears when Commissioner Gordon's wife was killed. Damn that was good writing.

Wearing: black jeans, white men's dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, denim vest with a dark blue/red/brown southwestern print across the front of it (light blue denim on back). Forgot my necklace in my rush to get dressed (I woke up late) or I'd have on my hawk-carrying-shiny-blue-stone necklace. I did find a bunch of my jewelry the other day when we cleaned the bedroom, so I'm wearing southwestern style earrings (blue paua shell, I think, in silver setting, with little silver feather hanging below) in addition to my never-leave-my-ears moonstone studs. White athletic shoes: my Ryka Stability Km2's. Most expensive shoes I own.
Hair up in a french braid tied off with a strip of black leather. Sometime today I'll probably take it down, brush it out, and put it in two braids hanging down my back. I just put it up quickly because it was HOT walking to the train station this morning.
Reading: Still working on getting all the quotes out of Komarr, though I'm close to the end. Then I'll switch to A Civil Campaign. Finished Rules of Engagement, now I need to get the next one in the series, Change of Command.

Re:
*waving back*
Wearing: Gack, I'm actually in corporate drag today. Shoot me now. Something silkily neutral, which isn't my usual...and long flowy skirt for some gawdawful reason (it was clean). Tell me why I can't wear jeans to interview people in, huh? Hair is back and soon, possibly, to be dyed burgundy, or at least streaked temporarily for the excitement that is DCON! *bounce*
Reading: Still have a chapter to go in my work/bus book The Onion Girl...Have to pick a new book for home *rubs hands together in anticipation*
Re: *waving back*
Have you read anything else by de Lint? He's my favorite author...
Re: *waving back*
I have an entire shelf of de Lint in my every-growing library :) I've read almost all of his books, though I need to order a few of the harder-to-get ones. He's one of my favorites, too...gently immersive yet gritty and fanciful and visceral...and definitely realistic, esp. with personal trauma.

You are really pushing me to write more. I got a basic outline in my head for the intro to an original piece I am picking up from my past. Now I just gotta settle my hyper lit butt down and do the actual physical writing. Again, best of luck with your stuff.
Wearing? I haven't showered yet, so I am wearing the same stuff as last night. I just woke up an hour or so ago. So, my celtic dragon t-shirt, tan denim shorts, boxers, and my yellow jade chines dragon necklace; which hasn't left my neck in over a year and a half--Maggie gave it too me.
Reading? Charles De Lint's Onion Girl, and Forests of the Heart. Also paging thru Moonlight and Vines. And I am going thru my Gurps books to tighten up my game, which will never be played. ::sigh::

Reading: Drawing of the Three by Stephen King for the 12th time. I need to go to the bookstore.
I can't wait until you get published... I want to read it badly!!
