The Girl Scout parent meeting is over!

Only 3 of the 11 moms made it - we weren't able to reach 3 of them at all (no answering machine), we'd left messages for the others, and one just couldn't make it because of car issues, but she's assured us that her daughter really really wants to be a Girl Scout. So that's four definites plus Elayna - and we have a troop! Still need a meeting place, though.

And the meeting went really well. Our Service Unit Director did most of the talking, but we had a good rapport with the other moms (one of whom has 7 kids! so I know she could give a shit about my dust bunnies). And they all have e-mail, so no more phone calls. :)

And now I have to go make Miss Kid turkey rollups, and soon it will be Movie Night. :)

Hey, we want to be coming to movie night, but my relief for work doesn't get here till soemtime between 4 and 5, plus time to marta home, collect the wife and kid and head back out. Plus a friend has our SUV for moving and is incommunicado and we don't know for sure that she knows she has to bring it back so we can go out. So we're hoping to see y'all, but there could be issues.

Dude. Christopher Walken was in the Country Bears movie.

I know. I was stunned, too.

Glad to see you are treating it as a success. Good work. Best of luck to you all in the future.

If you get seriously involved in the Scouts, they have this really cool conference center out in (IIRC) Mableton.... they built this thing for a two-weeks-a-year event, then rent it out the other fifty... and my, those ladies can cook. Breakfast, ten-o'clock snack, lunch, milk and cookies in the afternoon, then dinner... we waddled home....

Only thing is, no electronic hookups in the rooms. Phone is a pay phone in the hall, only TV is in a common area. The theory is to get the folks to socialize...

But if you can tolerate being e-isolated with your fellow conferees, it is a facility highly to be recommended.

What we're looking for is something in, hopefully, a 5- to 10-mile radius of the Emory area... the moms don't want to have to drive all over Georgia for the meetings. :) We have a lead on a Unitarian church, but I don't know, as we've changed the meeting day from Saturday to Sunday in deference to the Orthodox Jewish girls in the troop.....

If it's the one I'm thinking of up close to 85 I don't think they'd be averse to having a Sunday pm meeting.... when CUUPS was getting started up there that was when we met, but there was plenty of other space left in the building...

Nice people. Very eclectic.
