Got my gift from
docorion - Paladin of Souls, by Lois McMaster Bujold!
I have to interrupt the VDayishness here just to chuckle about the fact that
docorion's guidelines for giftgiving, particularly VDay giftgiving, parallel mine. To wit:
* A book. Could be other things, but hey, I'm a reader; I'm known for giving books.
* A book that means something to the giver as well as to the recipient. That the recipient is guaranteed to like, mind, but that also means something to the giver. (
docorion is as big a Bujold fan as I am.) Because that way, it's not just "here's something from your wishlist" - it's "I want to share this with you." (Bonus, of course, if it *is* on the wishlist, which this was.)
Yay books!
And negative VDayishness - the fuckmonkeys at Elayna's school screwed up my carnation order. I paid for a dozen. They gave her none. And when I went in to try to figure out what went on, they asked for Elayna's full name, I gave it to them, they poked around, and they came up confusing her for someone else - the only other obviously Jewish kid in class. It actually took some time to get it through their heads. Y'know... I don't say that all goyim look the same to me. *sigh* There's more detail there, but I don't want to dwell. Fortunately, Elayna knows that I sent the order in; she knows I didn't forget her.
And she got a book. :)
And I've gotten cards from two of my dearest friends. I love you guys too... *hugs*

This whole jewish last name thing is ... whatchyacallit to me. I'm thinking ambiguous, but that's not it. Mysterious isn't the word I want either.
Oh well.
