*sigh*

Miss Kid didn't do her homework in after-school care.

Well, there goes *my* writing night.

I'll try to write after she goes to bed, but I get *so* tired that productivity that late is far from guaranteed...so we'll try this again on Wednesday, maybe.

Dammit.

Frankly, I say no maybe about it. Her homework on Wednesday isn't nearly as long as today's. And she knows in advance that she has to do it. If she fails to do it in Prime Time, like she's going to promise to do, I'll take her out (although Bruster's will not be one of our stops), and she'll need to face the consequences of going to her teacher on Thursday and telling her that she failed to do her homework. Frankly, I'd rather it be a lesson she has now than later.

'song the man has some nuggets on this one. and he has an awfully good point. was she supposed to do her homework in prime time? when Alex went, they tried to have a "homework day" but too many kids and not enough discipline saw it fall thru.

It seems as though you two make sure to have the house to yourselves on your writing nights. Was this something you figured out early on, was their trial and error, how did it come to be? Also, (and maybe I should just ask on his journal), what does Yendi write?

Thanks...

It's something we figured out just recently. I have ADD, so I can't deal with the tiniest distraction when I write... so Netscape gets shut down, [livejournal.com profile] yendi and Elayna have to be out of the house, the phone gets unplugged... we just started doing this this summer, and it's working really well so far. Plus it forces me to be more self-disciplined - it's the only uninterrupted time I get all week, so, dammit, I *have* to use it! :)

[livejournal.com profile] yendi writes the indie comics column at www.chud.com, and he's working on a mystery novel involving werewolves. :)
