Okay, wasn't going to say anything, but I'm drowning under the flood of e-mails! *laugh*

1. Yes, I am aware of the existence of Frienditto.
2. Yes, I am aware that people have put posts of mine up there.
3. No, for crying out loud, I have not signed up with them! The posts are up without my permission, and I'll be filing a DMCA complaint. I do not have an account there. They do not have my password. Your locked posts are safe.
4. No, I will never sign up with them. I'm not an idiot. And if you're signed up with them - as many others have said, get off my friendslist, because I'd like this to remain an idiot-free zone.

Yeah. I didn't want to say a damn thing, because OMG TEH DRAMA, but enough misinformation is flying around that some people are thinking that anyone's name on Frienditto means that that person has signed up.

Honestly, I don't think anyone who isn't all about OMG TEH DRAMA would have any part of that; I mean, want to archive a post somewhere other than LJ Memories? Right-click, save-page-as, there ya go.

Ostensibly a service to archive LJ posts. It screencaps and hosts them.

And if you give it your username and password, it can then screencap and post friends-only posts of people on your friends-list, is why the world is up in arms. And yes, they pulled that crap on me. *eyeroll*

Just wanted to set that out - I was done unto, here. I myself am not using the service.

Frienditto's operating costs have increased dramatically in the past 48 hours due to a massive influx of users wanting to view the site. This increased traffic combined with bandwidth costs is threatening the site's continued operations. Additionally, the Frienditto service is now under severe legal duress due to being named in various actions. We appreciate any support large or small.

Severe legal duress. I bet they are. I hope they suffer. I cannot think of a more annoying or intrusive concept to set lose on the internet. Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I am sorry that your stuff was plastered up there with no regard for your privacy--that's terrible.

I laughed my ass off when I read that, but the theory on my flist is that they are faking it for money, trying to see how far they can push the envelope before someone demands they open the damn thing and show the world whats inside it.

They could be in for severe legal duress, though, and I'd love it if they were, but I do hope no one innocent gets hurt because of this stupidity.
