* Snagging this to watch later when I am not at work: the trailer for A Scanner Darkly.

* Someone bought my daughter an iPod Shuffle off her Amazon wishlist. Someone is fucking high, but okay. It's not my money. I got her Eragon, Nausicaa, I'm getting her ears pierced, etc. A ten-year-old doesn't need serious consumer electronics.

We finally got to see that trailer in the theatre this weekend. ;-) You will like, yes.

And it's funny how times change. I got my ears pierced at fourteen, after a couple of years of begging. But I already had the 70s equivalent of an Ipod--a bitchin' cassette recorder. ;-)

What movie did you see it in front of?

I got my ears pierced at 8, but the holes closed; I got 'em done again at 14. :)

"The Jacket," which I apparently liked more than the reviewers did.

I dunno... that CAST.

I'm getting to really despise Keanu Reaves.

I'm a little worried about Woody Harrelson meself, but I like Linklater (especially "Waking Life") so much I'm willing to give the film a try.

re: ipod shuffle

Look at it this way...no moving parts. The nice thing about an mp3 player is there's no tapes for her to lose or CD's to get scratched. The only thing you have to worry about is her losing it--its really tiny.

My son Josh (11) asked me for one for his birthday; I told him to save up his money and buy it himself. And then, he had enough from his birthday money (he got over $150 from our family in monies) and he decided to buy other stuff instead. So, now he's saving up again. AT this age, its a fine line between responsibility and "what's need got to do with it?" :)

of course, that's just my opinion.

*nod* At least, unlike the iPod mini, it's got a cord, so we can hang it on her doorknob when not in use - less likely to get lost...

Elayna never spends the money she saves. Hey, I'm not complaining about that one!

What a coincidence!

Aaron, (my fiance's middle child, who is 11) was reading Aragon just last night. He hadn't gotten far enough into it to tell me much about it, though. It looks interesting!

Elayna recently started begging for it...

From the sounds of it it's a hip book right now. Aaron said he'd been meaning to read it for a while but hadn't gotten around to it. (Looks like he borrowed it from the library.)

Remind me, next time she's out of the house for a bit, to update her computer's software, so we can get the latest version of iTunes (which supports the Shuffle) on there.

She's ever out of the house when you're home?
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 07:42 am (UTC)
Not often, alas. Dunno. Worse comes to worse, maybe I'll work from home Tuesday afternoon.

No! No, you will not. *throws things at you* Tuesday afternoon is my only solitude, and that got trashed this week.

Call Westfield.
