Even numbers bother me.

EDIT: By this, I mean even, not odd. Not like "citrus fruit, fish - man, even numbers bother me." No. I mean that if a number is not an odd number, it makes my brain itchy.
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 08:33 am (UTC)
Yet you were born in an even year on an even date. :-)

*itch*
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 08:50 am (UTC)
With the exception of 2004, even numbers and even numbered years have always been dreaded in my Realm of Existence.
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 08:51 am (UTC)
I haven't noticed any particular issues with even-numbered years. Or even even numbers in general. I just don't like 'em. *frown*

I'm glad 2004 didn't suck!
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 08:52 am (UTC)
What's even better than odd numbers? Prime numbers. *nods*
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 08:53 am (UTC)
Yup. *nod*
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 09:04 am (UTC)
Yeah, like 2! :-)
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 09:07 am (UTC)
The force is strong with this one.
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 09:42 am (UTC)
Bah! 2 is such a blah number. Plus it's even!

*prefers the number 19* *grins*
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 04:10 pm (UTC)
I'm told 19 makes one of the more interesting (aside from 12) tempered scales, too. Haven't heard it (or rather, pieces written in it) yet, though.
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 08:54 am (UTC)
I am the exact opposite. Cannot abide odd numbers.

I was born on an odd day in an odd year, though.
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 09:31 am (UTC)
See. I have no issues with either odd or even numbers.

But then, I was born on a 10-10-1973

All the digits there are odd, but I was born on an even day in an even months.

1973 is just through and through ODD.

Maybe this misture of odd and even keeps me from being bothered by any of it.

17 is my favorite number; it was the date of my birth and has the handy attribute of being a prime number. It just feels right.
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 04:12 pm (UTC)
Went to a summer program where, once a year, there'd be an hour talk about the virtues of the number 17. That was good, though I don't remember a lot of the details. (One I know ... may have been off, but still!)
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 08:55 am (UTC)
Odd numbers bother me. See, you can’t divide them cleanly by two! How messed up is that?
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 09:02 am (UTC)
Weirdo. :P
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 09:11 am (UTC)
You know, I had a GM once who would adjust all of our attribute numbers up by one if they were odd so that we all had even numbers. All his bad guys had odd numbers for their attributes.

The Tao is One,
is nothing.
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 09:14 am (UTC)
Heh. *Odd* numbers make *my* brain itch.
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 09:33 am (UTC)
Odd numbers make me itch. Except for 5s. I like 5's better than 6's. For example, the temp is either 70, 72, 75 or 78 :) 74 is okay, but 76 isn't my favorite.

At least I'm not the only one with number issues, even if they aren't the same ones ;)
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 10:52 am (UTC)
76 is my favorite number but I don't know why.

The gematria algorithms on that number are interesting, as is its relationship to tarot and the Tree of Life.

   7 = The Lovers (http://www.learntarot.com/maj06.htm)
+ 6 = The Heirophant (http://www.learntarot.com/maj05.htm)
---
 13 = Death (http://www.learntarot.com/maj13.htm) (transformation)

13 is also the number of the thirteenth guest at the last supper, the Holy Spirit or "Christ". There are other relationships as well, including that it reduces to 4, which has a great deal of significance in QBL (Qabalah, Kabbalah, etc.) [Qoph + Beth + Lamed]

6. I am the flame that burns in every heart of man, and in the core of every star. I am Life, and the giver of Life, yet therefore is theknowledge of me the knowledge of death.

7. I am the Magician and the Exorcist. I am the axle of the wheel, and the cube in the circle. "Come unto me" is a foolish word: for it is I that go.

Several months ago, the voice of "god" said two things to me that really stood out:

"... beginning me again at the stairway, the infinite spiral of life."

and

"One had divided the light, but then transliterated the light again."

"None, breathed the light, faint & faery, of the stars, and two."
--Liber AL

I've heard that it takes seven lifetimes to master the qabalah ...

Thanks, that is fascinating!

That first sentence reminds me of some of the IQ test questions I have seen...

"Sally likes 382 but not 287..."

Oh, I'm a 5, btw... ;)

"That chick doesn't have issues, she's got a whole subscription!"

A 5 in numerology?
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 04:34 pm (UTC)
One question...

When you start itching, does it make you want to take off your clothes? :P

*prepares a deluge of odd numbers*

333 ;)
Friday, March 11th, 2005 07:00 am (UTC)
How did you guess? And I want to put on lotion. :)
(Actually, I don't like wearing clothes as a general rule, but I cannot find a nudist camp with a high speed net connection ;) )
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 09:40 am (UTC)
I hate odd numbers, except for 7. Odd numbers don't seem right.
Prime numbers are really nasty-once again, except for 7.

How does that joke go...?

"Why is six afraid of seven? Because seven ate nine." ;)

My father once told me he always considered odd numbers lucky (born even day, even month, odd year). As for me, I pay attention to numbers to some degree, but don't have problems or affinities for any particular ones. Except, due to my birthday being 9-19, and my first Little League uniform being "9," I do have a liking for 9s.

And 9 is odd, and so am I.

Odd post, 75 words, including this.

Even 42?

Or maybe, *especially* 42?

that's... odd.
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 10:56 am (UTC)
Now, it's odd numbers that get to me. Especially 1, 11, 111 and so on.

Should I post and make this 35 or not post and leave it 34... hm..
Thursday, March 10th, 2005 11:30 pm (UTC)
Nope, odd numbers bother the hell out of me. Hence 06/12/2004 being our wedding date, even though it meant getting married RIGHT NOW THIS VERY SECOND, because a date of 06/12/2005 made me twitch.
