Medical
Adam's staying home today, so I'm just taking the meds now; update to follow. But yes, I'm starting off with the usual. And the headache. EDIT: Ack. Kinda fucked in the head.

Epilepsy Superstar
You know what's weird?

Finding out that a website that you've been using as one of your primary resources for side-effect info lists you as a resource on their Epilepsy Support page. Dude, how did they even know I existed? (Thanks for the heads-up, [livejournal.com profile] rafaela!)

That's just weird.

*waves to Jerod if he's reading*

Thank You.
To everyone who responded to my post last night - thanks. It's just a really hard thing to let go of.

To address a few of the more commonly-asked questions:
* Neither of the guys wants to be a stay-at-home dad - not that we could afford it. But [livejournal.com profile] docorion's work is his joy and life, and Adam's awfully fond of his as well...
* I haven't entirely given up hope of finding the right medical combo - but being on the wrong one for two years is taking a mounting toll on my body. And I'm now over 30. I know you can have kids over 40 these days, but the risk factors - phew! I would not want to risk it over 35. Tick-tock.
* I'm not anti-adoption; should I find a drug that lets me function when I'm too old and the boys want a baby, we could adopt. But I loved pregnancy. Pregnancy is part of why I'd want a baby.

That is all of that for now.

Eating my Brain
If I was to create a playlist called "Eating my Brain", it would currently have:
"Somebody Told Me", The Killers
"Incorporeal", Tiger Army
"Beloved", VNV Nation
"Intergalactic Friends", Dandy Warhols vs. Beastie Boys.

That's some weird story shaping up in my head.

Wiki!
My wiki progress is hampered by the fact that the memory function has now been down for over 16 hours. Support says that this can happen during peak activity, but dude. This is not a time of peak activity.

Why is this hampering me? Because I have a few dozen very definitive character descriptions here in my LJ memories. And it's a waste of my time to rewrite what I can copy and paste. Yes?

Did manage to create 20 documents last night, though. Go me. I like this. Easy to organize. Click - all the House info, right there. Click - there's your glossary, from Dasaroi to Talthar Kithrayna. Characters. Places. Soon: events. Organization makes brain happy.

Readers: what do you want in the wiki?

A timeline with ALL the information you've given us. Please. My brain hurts from the sheer quantity of stuff.

Also, a map of the city that says "this important thing happened here" or "this person lives here and works here" would be useful.
Thursday, June 30th, 2005 05:52 am (UTC)
YES! I second this *nod*

Working on the timeline for the wiki.

The map, I need artist-help with!

When Super Artist Woman arrives, can this be on the "kind of important things to have drawn" list? Not super important, but I have no idea what the city layout is. All I know is that it's old and confused and there's an ocean or body of water nearby. Other than that... nothin'.

I actually have a map. Not very detailed. I'll have to put it up.

Thanks. :) Not *trying*, but it's good to be one!

I miss pregnancy as well, particularly laying my palm against my belly and feeling life move. (But not feeling life kick me in the lungs and spleen.)

I've no suggestions (other than JOHNATHAN! ;D) but can not wait to see this wiki. :}

*nods* I'm pretty sure I already did a Johnathan bio, and that it's just hiding in Memories...

Just FYI, what is currently wikied (wikid?) is not nearly enough! ;D

I know! *laugh*

how does one start up a wiki?
Thursday, June 30th, 2005 06:55 am (UTC)
It is a piece of software installed on a webserver. You can read all about it, amusingly enough at the wikipedia entry for it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki_software

After reading, you can probably easily google to find specific versions of the software. I know [livejournal.com profile] mgrasso uses PM Wiki.

Yeah, but I have a friend who did hosting/implementation for me. All I know how to do is edit pages, and I barely know how to do that. :)

The one I'm using is really simple so far. And [livejournal.com profile] metaphorge is going to help me do complicated stuff. :)

Eating my brain:

  • the entirety of the second disk of the new Foo Fighters
  • "All Tore Up," The Tragically Hip
  • "As Ugly As I Seem," The White Stripes
  • "Sail To The Moon," Radiohead

Somebody Told Me is also eating my brain, together with EBTG's Missing and the War Requiem. Do you think you could e-mail or YSI me the Intergalactic mashup? I really wanted that when I saw it in [livejournal.com profile] audiography but my computer wasn't behaving.

If it helps, my sister-in-law is a Grand Mal epileptic. She has three children. She found that her body functioned beautifully while she was pregnant --without meds. Apparently, she stopped taking her meds a couple of months before she & Stephen wanted to get pregnant, and she could tell when they succeeded because she would stop feeling the brain-fuckery.

She didn't nurse, though, because she would have to go back on the meds soon after the baby was born.

(I didn't want to mention this yesterday, because I felt it might be a cruel tease. But if they can find a combination that makes you functional, there may well be the possibility that pregnancy is not completely out of your future.)

Um … you didn't bother keeping a copy of those entries on your own computer? You actually trust LiveJournal to keep everything? (me, I have two full copies of [livejournal.com profile] bostondiaries (my online blog/journal (http://boston.conman.org/)) and two partial copies, but only after a successful hack attempt (http://boston.conman.org/2004/09/14.1) on the server my online journal was on (yes, I learned the hard way). I was, however, able to retrieve about a weeks worth of entries (the benefits of RSS syndication (http://boston.conman.org/bostondiaries.rss)).

Have you thought of maybe using Google (http://www.google.com/search?biw=1060&hl=en&q=Shayara+site%3Alivejournal.com&btnG=Google+Search)?

Thursday, June 30th, 2005 10:37 am (UTC)
Hmm … maybe not on the Google thing; Yahoo (http://search.yahoo.com/search?_adv_prop=web&x=op&ei=UTF-8&fr=fp-top&va=Shayara&va_vt=any&vp_vt=any&vo_vt=any&ve_vt=any&vd=all&vst=on&vs=livejournal.com&vf=all&vm=i&fl=0&n=10) seems to have better results … go figure.

Not so much trust - I do have copies of everything, but they're old and out of date. The LJ stuff is the most up-to-date, since it's stored on the web and I can therefore make adjustments wherever I am... I just forget to adjust the documents on my home computer cometimes! I could have done it all straight from my backups, but then I would've just had to do it all over again to make sure everything was really current...

This is good, because having it in two places is good. *nod* And I should fix the stuff on my home computer while I'm at it. Just - so much to do, so little time...
