Hello to new readers [livejournal.com profile] ambelies_26 and [livejournal.com profile] ammepyre!

Medical
Exhaustion + nausea, and that's it so far, but the nausea's really profound and has been all weekend. I don't think I'm eating enough.

EDIT: Ach - note that I keep forgetting because it's gone by the time I get here - I get dizzy & get heart palpitations in the shower. Standing up too soon after waking up, I think. I think this can be solved just be taking things slower in the morning, but I do not have that luxury so long as I'm in Atlanta.

Also - I am what I call out of shape, but what [livejournal.com profile] docorion calls deconditioned. I'm not managing my walks well. Still, I persevere.

Over the weekend
Am still feeling fragile.
I created a [livejournal.com profile] gimp_squad community.
At [livejournal.com profile] docorion's request, I created a "care and feeding of 'song" wiki.

Wikis are the new blogs!

Cyberpunk Junkie
Just so you know, Hammerjack by Marc Giller is rocking my socks. And I'm wearing my Supergirl socks, so that means something.

Icons
I need a "Cyberpunk Junkie" icon, man. And I still need a '50s-clipart icon that says "PSA!". And a Boston one.

I have the same problem actually - except my heart palps can come and go as they please.. sometimes they are better when I sit up, as opposed to laying down. Yeah, figure that one out.

But, I have to take a good 20 minutes to get out of bed in the morning, otherwise I'm taking my shower sitting on the floor of the tub.

So, dear 'Song, explain to we great unwashed what a gimp squad is?
Tuesday, July 5th, 2005 05:52 am (UTC)
From Wikipedia: "Gimp is a word meaning a a lame person, a lame leg or a limp, perhaps by association with the word limp. It is also used as a verb meaning to limp."

Also generally means anyone with a disability, mild or otherwise, the way the Gimp Squad uses it. *nod*

*snort* Well, that's definitely me. Mr. Lower Back and I haven't been on speaking terms in years. It's painful to take *garbage* down to the curb, never mind trying to take a walk anywhere.

Dunno if that boston one might appeal to you...

Maybe... thanks!

I think that what you need for a Boston icon is a picture. Of you. In Boston.

Failing that, do you have any favorite Boston-area sights (other than [livejournal.com profile] docorion, silly) that might make good icons?
Tuesday, July 5th, 2005 06:40 am (UTC)
Um.

Pretty much just [livejournal.com profile] docorion.

Hee!

Honestly, no; I don't have anything Boston-landmarky in my head, not like this icon is Vegas-landmarky.

There are a couple about a third of the way down here; the Citgo sign and the Prudential building (with the relatively new tower with the funny skeletal dome whose name I don't know next to it) are both pretty distinctive Boston icons.

Or you could image-google for “Zakim "Bunker Hill" bridge royalty-free” and make something based on that. The Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill bridge was constructed as part of the End Times of the Big Dig, and you will probably be driving over it when you move. (It’s on the way from Boston-southish to Malden.)

This page of “must-see” sights in Boston may also be of interest. (The FAO Schwartz bear has since been moved to Children’s Hospital.)

Mmm. Or I could steal one of your icons of the house, with your permission...

(didn't rememeber if I'd given you that yet or not...)

(Your other one looked a bit grainy and dark so I made another one, just in case you felt like a different one. I tried to manip your original, but... yeah. Didn't come out as nicely as I'd hoped. If it's from an original picture you took, I'd be happy to brighten it a bit and then re-shrink it to make it not-grainy...)

The Boston background bit is one of the Boston T system, kind of like the underground in London.... I just read Neverwhere. You make the connection.

Shiny!

Could I take the Boston one with appropriate credit? (No is an ok reply.)
Wednesday, July 6th, 2005 02:42 am (UTC)
NO!

...Umm.... I don't see why not. ;) Just give credit where credit is due, etc. :)

Thanks!

Regarding the morning diziness, etc., are you sure you're staying well hydrated? I know that I get symptoms like that when I get dehydrated, and first thing in the morning is when I tend to be most dehydrated. You mentioned that one of your current medications was drying out your skin, and that leads me to believe it's likely drying the rest of you out as well. If you don't already, try keeping a glass of water by your bed and sip it when/if you wake up during the night. Whatever is left in the glass in the morning (or keep a carafe by your glass to refill it), kill it before you even get out of bed.

Could you adjust your schedule so that you can go to bed earlier and wake up earlier in the mornings? That would give you the time to take things slowly and still make it into work on time.

Glass of water = a very good idea.

Frustrating... the level of exhaustion I have makes it really difficult to get out of bed in the morning. I'm trying. *wry smile*
