Pain led to rest. Migraine this morning, too. It was just a combination of unpleasant things. It was an Unpleasant Things Convention, with my body as the hotel.
Talked to my kidlet yesterday. I really miss her terribly. *sigh* She's reading Half-Blood Prince - she's "in the hundreds". So I got a full-on plot dissection of the first hundred-plus pages of the book. She's very... um... detail-oriented, she is. :)
I told her I finished it. She asked what I was reading next.
"Well, I'm reading all of the magazines that came in this weekend."
"No, Mommy - what book are you reading next?"
She never asks that! I guess she picked it up from me - I always ask her. I checked the to-read pile. "The Hallowed Hunt by Lois McMaster Bujold. Tom lent it to me. The author usually writes science fiction, but this is in her fantasy series. I think you'd like her stuff."
"Maybe I could read some. When I'm done with Harry Potter."
"Maybe you could."
Now I get to re-read the early Vorkosigan stuff, see if it's Elayna-appropriate...
I then got to hear the entire plot of the Animal Inn book she read right before Harry Potter. Such is life.
Then I had the joy of talking to my mother. My obligatory Boston shot, when she said that Elayna and I should have more mother/daughter time: "The Y in Boston is walking-distance from her school - we could go swimming after school sometimes." Mom allowed as how Elayna would love that.
Today... organized Boston house-type stuff, exhaustively and exhaustingly. Will now go watch House. Unrelated to Boston house. Except for there being doctors involved in both cases.
I am so tired.
And I do miss my girl. Lots and lots. Two and a half weeks...

Spoilers for first few chapters of Hallowed Hunt (questionable content)
It does start off with murder caused by an attempted rape. But it doesn't get particularly much worse than the first few chapters.
