Ricola cough drops are fairly yummy, honey-herb flaver. But they're essentially just a hard candy - no payoff.

Robitussin Honey Cough cough drops, however - they're only faintly honey/herb to start with, mostly mentholyptus. But if you suck hard you get to the center quickly, and the center is honey - you break through what remains of the surface, and sudenly you have a glob of warm, thick, sweet honey on your tongue.

Heh. Oral fixation.

Gonna try to sleep.

Have you ever tried slippery elm? My old band would sometimes play long sets, or 2 sets in a night. It helped my voice, and my throat if it was sore. Nothing has ever worked better. You can find it at health food stores. I believe the brand I used was Thayer's.

ah.. here it is:

Yeah. Actually, when I was typing it up, I thought I was just doing a cough drop comparison, but then I typed that line and I thought, hmm, cough drop as metaphor?

It's been a few years, but a menthol-y minty taste that definitely burst right through my congestion a few times.

Hm! I'll have to look for that, then. *Nothing* gets through my congestion...

amazing cure-all:

before bed mix a strong batch of chamomile, slippery elm, and lemongrass teas (celestial seasoning's should have bags with those ingrediants), let it steep heavily. then mix a 1/2 shot of whisky, bourbon, or scotch, thats about a little less than an ounce. drink. go to bed. wake up in sheets soaked in sweat, take a lukewarm shower, brush teeth.
should be feeling fine. at least it works for me.
