Hello to new friend
xian_pu!
So. I'm here at work. My fever's stable at 99.0 (yes, that is a fever for me, my usual temperature is very low), and I'm feeling mostly functional, so here I am...
An explanation of my answer to my own poll: The Charles de Lint fans here all know who the Grasso Street Angel is. Basically, she helps people. She takes in the addicts, the runaways, the people no one understands. And I was pointing out to
yendi this morning that
morenasangre and Bret think I'm totally Jilly Coppercorn, but I really want to be Angel - and he said that he thinks Jilly wants to be Angel, too. So Maybe I'm more Jilly than even I know...
If you have no idea what that last paragraph was about, hie thee to a bookstore of library. Get "Dreams Underfoot" by Charles de Lint. Read it. Then get the other Newford collections. I promise that you will love them.
Fashion tip of the day: when wearing skirts that are subject to static cling, put lotion on your legs. Prevents the skirt from clinging. Don't know why, but it does.
So, questions: What are you wearing, and what are you reading?
I'm dressed up today, as I'm trying to pep myself up. Different shoes! Funky chunky-heeled black monk-strap shoes with grommets on 'em. Long flowy black skirt (all of my skirts are ankle-length unless stated otherwise). Witchy Pirate Princess Shadesong shirt, the pink/tan/black swirly one (not the one I wore the last day of D*C). Top and sides of hair pulled back in a little clippy thing, and the rest has obliged me by curling all on its own. It's actually getting long enough to stay behind my shoulders when I toss it there.
I'm reading "The Big U" by Neal Stephenson here at lunch (what? I haven't been here to finish it!) and will follow that with "Adventures in the Dream Trade" by Neil Gaiman (essay collection). At home, I'm reading "Slavecraft" by "a grateful slave" (thanks, Heather!) and Dork Tower trade paperbacks.

Dunno why you've never heard of it. But I have yet to see a bad book from NESFA. They also did nifty collections from John M. Ford, Will Shetterly/Emma Bull, and Lois McMaster Bujold, amongst others.

Definitely Thursday
Not that I wear skirts all that often, but I'll have to try and remember that one.
So, questions: What are you wearing,
Sweatpants and t-shirt (both dark blue) and socks and bedroom slippers. Hair, which is getting really long (about 3" above my waist now), pulled back in a loose, low ponytail. Earlier, for work, I was wearing black Lee jeans and a tan and white striped t-shirt.
and what are you reading?
People's journals? When I should be working? Oh, you mean bookwise... Guardian of the Vision by Irene Radford. And The Koala Tome of All Knowledge by O'Reilly.

At the moment, I'm indulging in one of the few freedoms left to us, geeking semi-naked in my own little slice of the world; later I'll be in your basic geek uniform, a t-shirt and dockers and chunky comfy shoes.... the t-shirt could be anything from "geek by nature: Linux by choice" to a big purple dragon (yesterday I wore Canned Lunch (http://www.firebirdarts.com/tshirt/12tshirt03b.shtml) (scroll down a bit))...
And these days I'm pretty much reading LiveJournal. *sigh* I have a copy of Clancy's latest at the top of my queue, but can't seem to get my round Tuit...

Me too! I'm like a little kid when I wear them... I bunch them up in my hands to climb stairs, I twirl to see them spin...

Unlike a pair of tight-fitting jeans, long swishy skirts just kind of hint at what's underneath, as opposed to laying it out there... and they also leave the underlying anatomy free to move, ahh, naturally....
Now where's a cold shower when I need one? :)

I'd like to be Meran ((I'm a sucker for a Galadriel lost in exile type), or Nia or someone who's healthy and happy--oh, wait, those don't exist in his universe. ;) Maybe Izzy--she seems content whenever she shows up these days, and she has a cool house.
Wearing: Levi's, blue sparkly Hogwarts shirt, trainers, SR hoodie. Booooooring.

What am I wearing? A sports bra. I'm working at home, so that's about all that's required. Sitting around braless all day ultimately gets uncomfortable.
What am I reading? "A Year At The Movies" by Kevin Murphy, a.k.a. Mystery Science Theatre 3000's Tom Servo. It's pretty lively and funny so far.

I'd love to get my hands on Gaimans essays. Dude was totally inspiring when I was reading Smoke and Mirrors.
Wearing: Khaki shorts and a 99X Big Shirt. But after I get my haircut? I'll probably change into... uh... shorts and, like, a t-shirt.
Reading: Everything's Eventual, Stephen King's new collection of short stories.
