[livejournal.com profile] photognome and [livejournal.com profile] waymerich, who asked the same question: I look exactly like my icon.

[livejournal.com profile] morenasangre: Oh, everywhere; I'd tour the world! With just [livejournal.com profile] yendi and Elayna to start with, but then I'd include little groups of friends; I'd take you and Bret to Paris, for example. :)

[livejournal.com profile] droa: Ack! Too many! How about two I'm in love with? Orient from the Bordertown books and Tannim from Lackey's urban fantasy books...

[livejournal.com profile] tarpo: Haven't made it yet, neck, I like it.

[livejournal.com profile] edie22: No... why would I be?

[livejournal.com profile] rloveking: They're doing some stuff on campus that I may participate in.

[livejournal.com profile] glenn5: Cake. Specifically chocolate or carrot.

[livejournal.com profile] yendi: Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld.

Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld.

*Shriek*! Someone besides me used to read that?? I had all of the initial series. ALL of them. And quite a few past the first miniseries...

I used to make up new characters (this was how I dealt with being an insomniac, was to make up OFCs for various cartoons/comics/tv series, give 'em a history, and throw them into the show to see what happened) based on whichever gemstones I could think of that they hadn't used. Things like moonstone, tiger's eye, semi-precious stones. :) I think I even made one character whose magic was based on a regular *rock*...but she was a religious figure; her magic came more from a goddess, and came *through* just about any rock she picked up. I wanted to see what would happen if you had a magic-user in that universe from whom you *couldn't* steal their stone. ;)

I have all three miniseries! Searched long and hard for 'em, too. :) I was always pissed that the Aquamarines (my birthstone) were bad guys, though... I started wearing amethysts. :)

I've always loved amethysts. And I've *never* cared for my birthstone, which is ruby. My first engagement ring was blue topaz, which is still what I consider the most beautiful of the precious stones. But then, I'm far more fond of the "semi-precious" ones, in general.

I hate aquamarine - too pale and wimpy. I decided that I was adopting garnet as my birthstone. :)

See, I always like garnet. If it *had* to be red (which is a great colour, just not in a mostly-clear-gemstone), at least it was a full bodied, dark, DEEP red. Not like pale wimpy rubies. *g*

Exactly - like if I was going to wear blue, I preferred sapphire to aquamarine. :)

Sapphires are cool, but they generally look so close to black as to make no difference to me. Blue Topaz, now...not the pale stuff you usually see. Look carefully and find the rich, dark, sea blues...beautiful. The one in my engagement ring was a really, really dark blue topaz, water-clear, and beautiful.

My favorite stone ever is smoky quartz... deep smoky brown...
Friday, September 6th, 2002 01:18 pm (UTC)
Heh. That's Chris' stone. There's a moonstone (my stone) and a smokey quartz in my medicine bag, and one of each in his pocket. Always.
Friday, September 6th, 2002 07:13 pm (UTC)
Hee! Moonstone's my other stone! Smoky quartz is my primary, though...

I have the first miniseries of this and even vaguely remember it. I was never overly worried about my masculinity. :)

Hell, not only did I have it, but I remember that they actually managed to tie it into DC continuity in the LSH (and they made her a villain in some other DC series later, but I can't remember the context).

The (rather stupid) story is apparantly that Mordru, the Legion uber-mage villain, was from Gemworld.

They have done many stupid things with the Legion since Crisis . . .

Crisis itself was a stupid thing done with the Legion.

I actually really enjoyed the Levitz and Giffen runs. To me, they made the best of a messy situation (as did Ostrander on his wonderful Hawkworld series, the other continuity-blasted series post-Crisis).

I named one of my cats, Orient, after that character. I wanted to call a white cat we had at one point, Tick Tick, be Kerri exclaimed, "Isn't that the character that died?" She said no to the name Tick Tick. The cat ended up as (Grasso Street)Angel.

I dunno. I was just checking.

Or for forgetting the coupons I promised. I'm putting them in the mail tomorow btw.

I was going to ask about those.... :)
