I have signed my daughter up for NaNoWriMo.

Yep.

They have a Young Writers Program this year, for novelists under thirteen. She can set her own goal - no suicidal 50K for a ten-year-old.

Mommy and baby, writing together all through November. Me and my girl.

That makes me feel all gooey and warm inside!

Hey, this is you in ten years. :)

Methinks one of you is crazy.

Then again, I'm downloading outsider music and looking for the Puppet Master sequels on DVD again, so I'll just say that this NaNo thing is nifty, as you already know, and leave it at that. Yay for writers starting young.

We're all mad here.

You shock me. This is something we never would have believed.

(I'm sure I used to have an innocent icon. Alas, my innocence is lost.)

I thought you said you weren't doing NaNoWriMo?
Wednesday, October 5th, 2005 07:41 pm (UTC)
I said it would be insane and stupid for me to do NaNoWriMo.

But that's never stopped me before. Just, you know, historically speaking.

Plus! There is a nugget of cleverness here! If the child is doing NaNo? The child will have a block of writing time each day. Which means that *I* can take a block of writing time each day. Without having constant kid-interruption stuff. Because *she'll* be writing. See? See?

Good point. :)

But I *said* I would do it for you, and it's probably the only away you're going to right something from the PoV of an adolescent boy.

Or not.

I'm glad to know that I won't be alone in the insanity of NaNoWriMo. :) Since I actually signed up this year. Clearly insane I am.
Wednesday, October 5th, 2005 07:30 pm (UTC)
Best of luck to you both.

Dude, I just finished signing my son up. He's twelve. Of course, he's a weenie. He cut his word count goal down to short story length.

We should get them to be penpals! NaNoKid support. :)
Wednesday, October 5th, 2005 07:46 pm (UTC)
that's so cool! It's nice that you can do that with your daughter - and a clever way to get some writing time, too.

hmmm. This is going to be my first time doing Nanowrimo. Have any tips? Aside from stocking up on caffeine. :)

Oh, I've never actually followed through before! So I don't really have advice. :(

What an awesome thing to do with your child!

I signed up for NaNoWriMo for the first time this year. Should be an interesting month!

I think that's absolutely adorable, aside from being completely brilliant. Are you planning on making whatever you and Elayna write available to your readership after it's over?
Thursday, October 6th, 2005 01:28 pm (UTC)
Absolutely! Possibly during.
Wednesday, October 5th, 2005 08:52 pm (UTC)

Thursday, October 6th, 2005 01:09 am (UTC)
Inculcating good habits when she's young huh? Good idea.
Thursday, October 6th, 2005 01:45 am (UTC)
Okay, maybe I'm an equally questionable parent, but That. Is. Awesome.
Thursday, October 6th, 2005 03:03 am (UTC)
YAY!
Thursday, October 6th, 2005 07:22 am (UTC)
Awesome. I think we're signing my nephew up, too. We're just waiting for them to answer a few questions since he's homeschooled.

Yay for Elayna!

That's wonderful. :)
