Generally I'd put more thought and work into a costume, but this'll be for work... which means it needs to be something I pull on in the ten minutes between dragging my ass out of bed and the shower and being hauled out the door.

The Jedi costume (sans cloak) was handmade by [livejournal.com profile] mightywombat; the Trek costume is Original Series (the red dress) and store-bought.

My God, like there's any contest? Dull dun robes vs. short skirts and go-go boots? Come on. :)
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 02:09 pm (UTC)
Well, I don't have the cloak. But I have everything else.

"But the branch colors are wrong..." ;)

And I agree whole-heartedly.

"I think I'm going to like history."

"Those are Klingons?"
"We do not discuss it with outsiders."

I voted one way on instinct; however, I just realized...are you talking about the cosmic cheerleader outfit? 'Cuz 'Song in a cosmic cheerleader getup...~snaps back to reality~...ummm yeah!
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 02:12 pm (UTC)
Cosmic cheerleader?
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 03:01 pm (UTC)
Heh...of course I said Star Trek chick, 'cause hey - that's what I going to be, too! *laugh*
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 03:01 pm (UTC)
BAH! I'm, even.

Hi there!

I refuse to answer this poll because it goes against everything I believe about Hallowe'en. [nods]

Hi There!

Well, I'm probably going to wait a little bit and write a long boring post about this, in which I pretend to be all intelligent and articulate and funny at the same time, only to find out that I'm really just being a pathetic opinionated nerd ... but,

It is my strong personal belief that Halloween should be scary. Not like: "Oooh, look at me, I'm wearing a white sheet" scary, but "Little Johnny has needed psychological counseling for the past 15 years ever since he went trick-or-treating at THAT house" scary. It always disturbs me when people dress as not scary things for halloween.

But please please please please PLEASE don't let ME tell you what to wear. Diffr'nt strokes fr diffr'nt folkes and all. I feel badly trying to tell people how to have fun on Hallowe'en, but I really miss the scary.

I won the costume contest at work a few years back as Lil' Bo Peep and her Inflatable Sheep.

I got a Daisy Kingdom pattern, scaled it up to fit me, made it out of eyelet and nursery-rhyme print. Complete with pinafore and petticoats. Eyelet cap, white tights, mary janes, and I found a proper crook with eyelet and matching ribbon tied around it and put ringlet curls in my hair.

And a black inflatable sheep bought from a sex-toy store, with collar and leash "to keep her from running off again."

And I did, in my best little-girl voice, "I don't know why the sheep keep running away from Daddy."

I won the costume contest decisively against Bill & Monica when Bill leered at me suggestively and I handed him the sheep and edged away from him.

Scary enough for you? *grin*

(I'll also note that I won "scariest costume" at a party one year with my spouse -- we went as a pun. It really terrified people. You just have to have the right perspective on what will cause Little Johnny to need psychological counseling, is all...)

Oh, we do our house scary. Motion-activated freaky-sound tombstones, rubber rats realistic enough to freak me out when I go to get the mail.... our reward is the screams of the children!

I was a Jedi last year at school. *grin* A jedi in 4 inch stiletto boots. That was a blast to explain to the administration....

What, no Sith option? The Jedi get a radio button, but the Sith do not? Am I going to have to call the ACLU on your ass?
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 03:14 pm (UTC)
See, I don't have a Sith costume. *points to "current mood"*
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 04:01 pm (UTC)
If you were a true Sith you'd be able to make a radio button just appear without need to whinge about it! *nods*
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 07:55 pm (UTC)
*snirt*

You're good.
Thursday, October 20th, 2005 04:54 am (UTC)
*waves hand*

You think I'm good...
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 03:54 pm (UTC)
is it customary to dress up at Emory for Halloween? Should I be planning something? I don't even have a costume yet.
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 04:03 pm (UTC)
I abstain from voting until there are pictures of you in each outfit. I cannot make this choice based upon description alone!
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 04:18 pm (UTC)
You have an attitude more harmonious with a Jedi Knight... therefore, the Star Trek chick is more of a costume. I vote accordingly. ;)
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 06:55 pm (UTC)
Man, I couldn't swing an Ewok without hitting a Jedi this year at Dragoncon. Go with classic Trek.
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 07:51 pm (UTC)
A while back I had an all-purpose costume. I dressed all in black, cut several holes in a sheet I had got from Goodwill, and went as Charlie Brown in It's the Great Pumpkin...

So, as the 124th person to post an answer, it kinda shocked me to look at the results and see them tied at 62 and 62. Humor. Pure humor.
Thursday, October 20th, 2005 01:56 am (UTC)
And I'm the 126th, and it's 63-63.
Thursday, October 20th, 2005 01:55 am (UTC)
I have this sudden vision of you bouncing around like Yoda.
Thursday, October 20th, 2005 03:15 am (UTC)
. . . and Star Trek chick starts to pull away from the competition as the night-owls read the post . . .
