Hey, [livejournal.com profile] edie22... Elayna's become obsessed with Pippi Longstocking. She says thanks for giving her the book. :)

Have you introduced her to Eloise yet?

That would be the New York contribution to your daughter's fictional exposure :)

She owns it, but hasn't read it yet....

I had Eloise as a child but lost the book. Then for my 27th birthday my roommate and best friend gave it to me, as she had decided that Eloise was secretly (or, not so) my Inner Child. She kinda is.

How old is Elayna? What else is she into reading?

She's 7... she's currently reading the Fudge books by Judy Blume, and she's also enjoying Narnia. And read Sideways Stories from Wayside School recently. Also loves LeGuin's Catwings books, and Bunnicula... she's got eclectic taste.

Yay! Bunnicula. Fine reading indeed. A quick favor: could you tell me the author?

[livejournal.com profile] daoistraver: [paraphrase] we need to rent Bunnicula. That movie rocks.

[livejournal.com profile] pharminatrix: Oooooh, there's a movie? I loved that book?

[livejournal.com profile] daoistraver: THERE'S A BOOK?

[livejournal.com profile] pharminatrix: DUH!!

[livejournal.com profile] daoistraver: YAY!

There's a movie?!?

James Howe. Sequels are The Celery Stalks at Midnight and Howliday Inn.

Astrid Lindgren (author of the Pippi books, unfortunately dead now) wrote a lot of good stuff. I loved _Ronia, the Robber's Daughter_ when I was a kid.

Also check out Dianna Wynne Jones (I like most of her stuff as an adult; its age range varies from just-into-chapter-books to adolescent.) and _The Phantom Tollbooth_.

I'll have to look for Ronia... we already have lots of Diana Wynne Jones, love her. :)

Oh, we have The Phantom Tollbooth! It was one of my all-time favorite books. I definitely need to get Elayna started on it.

Yay for Pippy Longstocking, although I've never red it.

I'm going to reed your LJ, but you would flood my friends list so I don't want to add you...Is it rude to say that?

Heh. Not rude, just honest - I know I post a lot.
