When cleaning one's house to the soundtrack of Great Big Sea and the song "Trois Navires de Ble" comes on, you must dance. Particularly if you are wearing a long swirly gypsy skirt with bells on it and a fluttery-sleeved shirt and your hair down. You must call up all of the memories of eight years of ballet and all of the instincts that move you to dance, and you must twirl and leap and let your body use this to heal....

This helps.

Wow. You wear skirts and fluttery things when you clean? Does that make it easier to do? 'Cause I'm perfectly willing to change my wardrobe if that'll help! :-)

I don't dance, but I like to clean to filk, especially Valdemar filk, so I can sing.

It does help. :) There are things that I like to do to cheer myself up; twirly skirts and Great Big Sea are two of them. And, well, the house needs cleaning!

Dance is good. Dance is probably one of the oldest forms of wielding the energy.

Dance, then, wherever you may be
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he
And I'll lead you all, wherever you may be
And I'll lead you all in the Dance, said he.

That's always been my view!

I was never very good at dancing, I always felt clumsy as a newborn deer on ice. Should I try anyway? Does it matter that I don't know any dance steps or anything?

Just do what it is the music calls you to do. Make it up as you go along. Doesn't have to look good or anything. This is for you.

I don't need a downbeat to dance in this moonlight
With the drum in my bones I'm naked here too
I don't need a lighthouse to find my over
Filled to my brim with the wanting of you
I don't need a maestro to count out my measure
I don't need a songbook to howl up at the moon

    -- "Just Because", Gaia Consort

(The last line of which usually ends up sounding like,

I don't need a songbook to howl up at the OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

when it's done in concert :)

(yeah, that's partly my fault. :)

*grins* Thank you, I appreciate it a lot.
Sunday, September 15th, 2002 10:18 am (UTC)

and you were that to clean the house? what do you were to the RenFest?
rubber gloves? ::grin::
Sunday, September 15th, 2002 10:31 am (UTC)
Long skirt, peasant blouse, bodice. :)

Sunday, September 15th, 2002 10:33 am (UTC)
so. no change really? a renfest atmosphere pretty much, 24/7. sounds delightful.
Sunday, September 15th, 2002 10:21 am (UTC)
The importance of dance is vastly underestimated.
Sunday, September 15th, 2002 10:29 am (UTC)
Agreed. :)

Sunday, September 15th, 2002 11:46 am (UTC)
Or at least it makes the housework go faster. :)

Having fun? hehe

BTW, did you ever find a place for your girlscout troop?
Sunday, September 15th, 2002 12:00 pm (UTC)
I'm a little better... still Under Attack, but it's slowing down. Your church doesn't answer the phone, by the way! Muse has been calling... so, due to assorted dramas and lack of place/planning time, we postponed the meeting til next week.

Sunday, September 15th, 2002 12:09 pm (UTC)
Oh, I'm so sorry! If I had known they didn't answer their phone, I could have asked Pat about it today! I guess maybe try again tommrow, and if they don't answer, try emailing Pat Kahn at prkahn@juno.com . Although she is probably not the atual person to talk to, she, being the Sunday School driector, could probably point you in the right direction.

Let me know if I can help! (with the church thing, or anything else you need) and I will see what I can do. I could email Pat as well, although I know she will be there tommrow if you want to call direct.

We got through... no dice. They're booked solid; no rooms for us. :(
Wednesday, September 25th, 2002 12:28 pm (UTC)
I'm sorry. :( Don't have any more useful advice. Good luck with it!
Sunday, September 15th, 2002 02:10 pm (UTC)
Ummmm, If I;m wearing a swirly gypsy skirt at your house, I am so not cleaning, and you will be in "BIG TROUBLE". Why you, you ask. Why because you are the only person in my life that I could even picture making me wear a swirly skirt.

Have you ever listened to Tempest or Lief Sorbye? ^_^
Sunday, September 15th, 2002 03:03 pm (UTC)
Tempest, yes. Not as tworly as Great Big Sea, though.

Sunday, September 15th, 2002 03:17 pm (UTC)
Coolness. ^_^ My sister has heard GBS, but I haven't yet. Sounds like something I really need to get, though.

And Lief is the lead singer for Tempest. He did a solo album that's not Celtic stuff, but it's very pretty. More lyric than bouncy, though.
Sunday, September 15th, 2002 03:31 pm (UTC)
GBS is as bouncy as it is twirly. I recommend 'em highly...
