I mean, I like my boobs and all. That's not what I'm talking about. I hate how defective my internal processes are.

Latest example: I was fine this morning, nothing wrong with me. I get to work. I sit down and do work. I get up - to realize that I now have joint pain in my hip when I move. For no apparent reason. Ohhhh-kay. So. I manage with the hip like this for an hour or so. Then it starts to spread. So now I have pain all across my pelvis (no, it's not a menstrual thing) and up my lower back, and I'm starting to feel a titch of it in my shoulders. For no apparent reason.

So. I hate my body.

EDIT: Legs, now, too. Foo.

Sounds like fluid pressure pinching a nerve in your spine. Ever have back problems?
Tuesday, September 17th, 2002 08:48 am (UTC)
Back problems frequently, but there's an external cause: being forced to hike with a too-heavy pack and no pack frame for six months in a wilderness survival program as a teenager. Ever since then, if I so much as bend over to pick something up off the floor, I pay for it later - severe pain as soon as I lie down. I almost wish the pain was immediate - it would remind me to squat instead of bend...

Look into sciatica remedies... it does sound like spinal nerve problems.

WebMD says sciatica's more of a sharp pain down one leg... this is more of a joint ache...

I tend to hate specific organs, like the lower GI tract, or my spleen, or those other unidentifiable bits that squish oddly when removed. The bladder and the urinary tract I also hate on a regular basis.

Sounds icky about the joints. Can you take something? lotsa hugs.

Were you sitting in one position for a long time? Sometimes that can cause effects like you're seeing.

Second your comment re: your boobs.

No longer than usual. Only about half an hour, and I generally do spend that long or longer sitting at a stretch....

And thank you. :)

Pelvis, lower back, and between the shoulders - it's possible it's posture related somehow, too. How frequent is it?

My old martial arts teacher would tell you to study taijiquan. :)

Infrequent - this is the first time in ages.

Actually sounds like a back spasm, centered around another cause, probably nerve-related. I have two herniated discs in my back...the spasms usually come when they decide they want to get to know my spinal and other nerves in pushy, up close and personal ways. Usually because of me doing something stupid, like lifting or bending vs. squatting. Sounds like you may have something similar by your description. But hey, I'm no osteopath. Muscle relaxants might give you a bit of temporary relief, though. And whatever stretching you can manage without making it worse.

Maybe it's a tumor!

Seems like everyone's in need of a straight line these days. Seriously, have you tried a chiropractor?
Tuesday, September 17th, 2002 10:16 am (UTC)
Maybe I should see if my insurance covers that...

Can I get an "eat snot ta too-mah"?

We have great coverage for alternative medicine stuff, but our management is hooked on the chiroprator I go to. I swear we ought to just put her on payroll and eliminate the middleman. I get back spasms sometimes and I used to just suffer through them and be cranky for months at a time, but this really does help. Pains in my hips and legs showed up sometimes as a byproduct.

Yeah, chiropractors are good. Yeah, vague joint-pain sucks. Most of the time, my body works... sometimes, it feels like somebody has tossed a handful of gravel into the works, and everything goes *screech* bang bang bang *ker-thump*. :P

Yeah... I hate my body too. I mean, I like my... uh... anyway. My upper GI-tract and I have a love hate relationship. It loves to make me hate it, and loves to hate me too. And I hate it, usually. When it's bad, I papmer it, but when it's good? Punnishment galore. I am a fool.
