So. What would your purely hypothetical band name be? Those who read [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe know that his is Fat Italian Jesus...

Mine is Pumpkin Spider. In the early 90s, I was watching one of those sketch comedy shows. Wish I remembered which one! Anyway, they were doing a Mister Rogers parody, very twisted, and at this one point, Mister Rogers walking down the hall and passes a bulletin board. On the bulletin board is a construction-paper pumpkin with crepe-paper arms and legs. And he points at this, says, "Pumpkin spider!" in the weirdest voice, and moves on. And I just loved it.

I've also claimed the name Driftwood Angels for a band in [livejournal.com profile] shayara. And I've claimed "I'm Two Inches Tall, and You've Got the Frog Suit" as an album name for Pumpkin Spider.

So what would you name *your* band?

Shotgun Enema.
Hardcore Punk band.
It's all mine baby!
First alblum name? BEND OVER!
Cover would be a man bent over with his fingers in his ears and a woman in a nurses outfit standing behind him with a shotgun pointed at his BUTT!

Pretty original I think. =)

The band would be "Anonymous Steel Ballista".

The first single would be "Pilum", and the album "Barrage".

This is subject to change without notice, and will probably be completely different next time I'm asked.

I'm torn between Plastic Funktastic, or Golden Spider Duck

my first album would have to be called Bendable Erotic Produce.. because I still think its the best combimation of 3 words I have ever seen best to "covered in pudding" or "naked in bed"

You mind if I steal this topic from you someday? its great..

Steal away - just give me credit!

I've always favoured the name Iduno. *giggle* But it's not realistic. I have absolutely no idea. My brain goes, "We need a bass player. And a *singer*. You can't name a band without knowing who the front man's gonna be." Heh. 'Cause yeah, it's not just a fruitless, "what sounds cool in my head" exercise for me. We're going to *have* a band one of these days that will actually need a name.

Chris has ideas. I'll make him get online this evening and answer you. *He's* the one who spent most of his childhood dreaming of making music; I dreamt of writing. When I wasn't making music. I just never had the dream about making any *money* making music. It was just fun. :) Making music *with Chris*, however, is a worthy dream.

Chris hasn't friended me back. *pout*

You're a drummer, I take it? Me too. :)

My dream band's name is "Mythos." It's a folk metal band. Though there's probably another band out there with the name. I dunno. I actually have thought up an album with a track listing. Once in college, and just recently when my friends and I joked about getting our own band. Of course, they wanted to name it "The Free Radicals" and it'd be an alternative/pop/ska band. Ah well.

My first album might be called "Gaze of the Unicorn." I wrote a song with that title years ago. Actually, let me see if I can find that recent track listing. I'd already started writing lyrics for it, too. Yeah, here it is. The track listing for the first Free Radicals album, entitled Chemic. Actually, it's more an almalgam of what a Mythos and a Free Radicals album would be. Anyway:

Fur
Dawn (Lilith's Song)
Put Down the Jawbone (instrumental)
Your Fire
Unwanted Guardian
What Were You Doing In the Back Row?
Gaze of the Unicorn
Heart
The Rainbow Connection*
Traffic Lights*

Years ago my gaming group, the PHLEGM gamers, created the fictional band, Goom. Travis and Kevin worked at kinkos so we were able to create t-shirts and even backstage passes. Our first album was Full Throtle Moses, with my magnum opus "Rocking or tipping may cause serious injury or death". Years later we all formed our own offshoots of Goom. Mine was called Lizard Nuns That Explode. Ah, the joy of my early twenties.

Someone swiped it from me years ago, but "ünnëcëssäry ümläüt" has long been a favorite.

My band would be "Swinging Richard and the Hang Times". Think deranged lounge covers of hardcore music. Squirrel Nut Zippers playing the Sex Pistols and Bad Religion...
Wednesday, September 18th, 2002 08:16 am (UTC)
You like my questions, hmm? :)

Have you heard Lee Press-On and the Nails? California band, similar concept (I think)...

I'd have to grow more hair to play in a band called "Warhorse" but at least I wouldn't have to learn much in the way of music. Hmm, how do I get umlaats on the a?
Wednesday, September 18th, 2002 08:19 am (UTC)
Ask [livejournal.com profile] yendi about the umlauts, looks like he knows. :)

Neon Phallus (dyke heavy metal)

I was in a prog rock band in college called "Everything is Krishna"

If I were to start another band, I'd call it "Biker Mimes"

In high school I was the bassist and lyricist for an all female punk band called 'Birmyngham'. Then our boy crazed lead singer decided we needed boys in the band and things just went downhill from there. We briefly changed our name to 'Cherry Ice' then back to 'Birmyngham'. In other words, the guitarist and singer got drunk and decided to change the name and I made them change it back. :)
I've written a ton of stories about a fictional band called 'The Renegades' and even have half a novel in progress about them.
Gaming wise, one of my recurring NPC's in Live Action (very much based on a character I played in tabletop Vampire (ohh hey, isn't *that* a shiny name for a band? "Tabletop Vampire"!)) is Raven Fury, volatile lead singer/guitarist for the heavy metal band Fatal Fury. Their big album was 'Oooh Now THAT'S Gotta Hurt' (picture on the cover by my brother's wife of a man having his spine torn out by wild dogs). My brother's character in that was Dedd Dogg, a seven foot tall bassist. He had a German Shepherd for a pet, predictably named 'Live Dogg'.

Ryan-from-Castle's favorite was Hell Toupee...

It all depends on the kind of band, actually…

Stinging—punk band or speed metal
Coelura—Art rock
Foxes in Soxes—Lighthearted Girl Rock Band (like the Runaways)
Mircalla—Angsty goth rock band

I've always liked either "Rage On Stage" or "Five Dave Clarks."

Many years ago in the late, lamented SPY magazine they had a feature that imagined many band names and hit single titles drawn from the movie It's A Wonderful Life. One of the band names was "Zuzu's Petals" and one of ths song titles was "Happy New Year...In Jail!"
Wednesday, September 18th, 2002 10:49 am (UTC)
I already have one! [livejournal.com profile] brainslur.
Okay, so that's Scott's. My character, Kage, has a band called The Save Betty Project. I have a little list of words and phrases that have made me say "Hey! That would be a good name for a band!" But right now I can't find it.
Wednesday, September 18th, 2002 11:12 am (UTC)
I had a band not so long ago called Medieval Funk Band.

Me, [personal profile] hotcoffeems, and [profile] beachsomewhere have a fantasy band which may be called the Hoochie Mamas, the Bushbabies, or Roses for Jefferson. The only thing we've really settled is that we have to play "Highway Star", because [profile] hotcoffems insists

I made up a band once for a Shadowrun game I was running that was called "Big Green Hairs". I have no notion of where I got it from...

I also really love the way "John, John, and the Band of Dans" rolls off the tongue. But They Might Be Giants came up with that, so I can't use it.

Then there are all the bands named in that Monty Python sketch that Toad the Wet Sprocket got their name from...
Wednesday, September 18th, 2002 02:10 pm (UTC)
Originally, I wanted to use, "Fearless Vampire Killers". Lately, I'm more drawn to "Freak Legion". The origins of both should be obvious.

Freak Legion would have to be a punk band, since I can't sing or play an instrument. That qualifies me to be the leader. ;-P

First Album would be "Self-titled Debut Album". Follow-up would be, "No CDs in Cases".

First single: "Fuck You (the Christmas Song)"
