What are you wearing?

I'm wearing this outfit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=959630934&rd=1
With these earrings: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=959024629&rd=1

I love eBay. I highly recommend the seller of those earrings, by the way; she's [livejournal.com profile] evilari on LJ, and she does fantastic work with jewelry and is an all-around fabulous person. So buy from her.

Reading: Here, "The Penultimate Truth" by Philip K. Dick. At home, "Kodocha" by Miho Obana (it's a shoujo manga, translated by Sarah Dyer of Action Girl!).

You?

Wearing: Black tshirt with a image of a dragon wrapped around the hilt of a sword on the front, blue jeans, matching socks, New Rock boots, and when I'm outside, the Huge Leather Coat of Doom (was asked by a guy who was repairing it once, "How many cows?" - probably bullet proof at anything over forty feet, and makes me look well 'ard).

Reading: Lavondyss, by Robert Holdstock on the bus and train, and Engineering in the Ancient World at bedtime. Recently got hold of Culpeper's Complete Herbal, and should have a copy of the D&D Epic Level Handbook arriving this week from Greenwood Games.

I'm reading Perdido Street Station by China Mieville, it's slow going, but good. Next on the pile is Ill Met by Moonlight by Sarah A. Hoyt, which I just bought.

OK.

What I'm wearing, from the inside out...

Contact lenses, white comfy undies, khaki socks, one necklace with an oak leaf and acorn pendant and a raven pendant. A second necklance with a pentagram pendant, and a sheila na gig pendant (obviously, this one never comes out at work), wristwatch, plain silver pinkie ring, white gold wedding ring, silver and laboradorite ring, three silver earrings in my left ear (one plain, one with black onyx bead, one with an oak leaf), one silver and onyx tragus piercing in my right ear, jump boots, black EMS pants, khaki "Solas" t-shirt, one necklace with a pendant that is obsidian on one face and amber on the other.

What I'm reading - at work "We Were Soldiers Once... And Young" by James Galloway & LTG Harold G. Moore. At home, "Disappearances", by Kristine Kathryn Rusch for fun, and "Dying for the Gods: Human Sacrifice and Ritual Murder in Iron Age and Pre-Roman Europe", by Miranda Green as research for a workshop I'm presenting at a Pagan festival.

Dying for the Gods: Human Sacrifice and Ritual Murder in Iron Age and Pre-Roman Europe - is it worth reading for interest as well as research? I kind-of, sort-of have access to one of the Copyright Libraries here, so I can probably get hold of it...
Monday, September 30th, 2002 07:01 am (UTC)
Yes, it's quite well written.

It's a serious study of the evidence for human sacrifice in Europe. Like all of Green's works, it's pretty in-depth, but also accessible to lay people. This one was written more for a scholarly crowd, than for the mass market, but is still very readable.

Also, it neither sugar-coats, nor apologizes for the subject matter. She lays out what she's aware of, and how she interprets the evidence.

Hidden underneath, royal blue bra and bright red satin panties. Jewelry: silver wedding band worked in Celtic knots, silver chain holding a pentacle made to look like a wreath of leafy sticks with a malachite in the center. Reading: A Game of Thrones, by George R. R. Martin. A loaner from [livejournal.com profile] skydancer. In my reader queue, I have some Robert Jordan (also from skydancer), the entire Sword-Dancer series by Jennifer Roberson, and Q-Squared, a Peter David ST:TNG novel, all borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] kendaer and [livejournal.com profile] tabbifli.
