Dinner is at 6 tomorrow in Union Square. Suggested locations include S'Mac, Momofuku, Village Yokocho, Noodle Republic, Mandoo, and Big Daddy's Diner.

I'm leaning towards Noodle Republic or Big Daddy's Diner. You?

People so far: Me, [livejournal.com profile] blergeatkitty, [livejournal.com profile] brokensiren, [livejournal.com profile] texmorgan, [livejournal.com profile] regyt, [livejournal.com profile] novalis, [livejournal.com profile] aussie_nyc - anyone else?

I will be 100% away from the computer this evening and on only briefly tomorrow morning, so if you natives could resolve this, I'd be much obliged. *tips hat*

Unrelated: I submitted two stories today, so I totally get a cookie.

The food at Noodle Republic is great, but the reason I didn't recommend it is that it's one of the noisiest restaurants I've ever eaten at, and it's often so crowded you're lucky if you can find four seats together much less 8.

I don't want to be one of those folks who shoots down every suggestion evar, but I actually HAVE even had first-time LJ-friend meetups there and we agreed - the food was terrific (it helped that she had a particular affinity for soup in all its forms) but we barely got to converse.

So maybe that helps narrow things down. Any of the others are probably fine, though again, in my case cheaper is better.

What about Big Daddy's?

I haven't actually been to any of these places, so I don't have a clue. But I do like caramelized banana pancakes in general.

If I want to join in just to meet a few of you guys but don't get off work until 6.30 meaning I'd be there around 7ish, would you mind calling me and let me know where you are? I don't think I have an email address for you but I submitted mine to you a couple of days ago in your poll about the viewing parties.

Ok, complicated goes: Would you mind either emailing me your number so I can call you when I get out of work, or email me so I can send mine your way? I guess the first sounds easier when I re-read that.

I'd really appreciate it, thanks! (Oh, and hopefully no one minds that I show up?)

I was just about to post that. The acoustics are beyond horrible there - it really is Loudest Place Ever.

I'm probably in! Pending escaping work at a sane hour.

If you give a 'Song a cookie . . .

Go to Noodle Republic! The food is so good, especially if you like Pad Thai. They also have a lychee drink that's out of this world if you drink. It can be a little noisy, but the food is worth it!

If you're interested in trying something a little more downtown-ish, on St. Mark's Place between 1st Ave. and Avenue A is this amazing place, Yaffa Cafe. They have an eccentric, delicious, well-rounded menu with many vegetarian options for those who are, and their prices are insanely reasonable. Not to mention the addicting carrot salad dressing and their orgasmic desserts. Apple pie = to die for.

You may have already made up your mind, but there's another possibility for you. Their decor is amazing. Pretty much, I would live there if I wasn't a poor acting student. They're also open 24 hours.

It is a sign of how much I adore you that I totally want to sneak on the train to NYC tomorrow, find where you're dining, and just casually show up to surprise you.

Alas, I am currently dead with flu and don't have transportation even though I'm in CT (and am missing time with my relatives as I recover), but I gotta say it'd be tempting to see you again. And the 'Kitty.

I might be able to make it. Do you have a phone number or something, or are you going to be posting plans here?

Mind if I show up? I get off around 6 or 6.30 so I'd be a little later, but I could call one of the locals and find you guys that way.

I get out of work at 5, so I can join a dinner at 6 in Union Square! Send me Elayna's cellphone number, so I can call you when I get there and we can meet (*hugTHUDoof!*). Also, I totally vote for Big Daddy's. Wow, there's a lot there I'd like to eat!

I've heard good things about S'mac, and I walk by Momofuko and Noodle Republic all the time, but I haven't actually been to any of them.

I am without internet access for most of the day, but could somebody plese e-mail me at reenie212 AT yahoo.com I'd be happy to eat at any of those places. :-)

Thanks!

OK, so blergeatkitty, regyt, and avivasedai all say Big Daddy's is a good choice. 'Song lists seven people, plus me and kizlj makes nine. Menu lists automatic 20% gratuity at party of 8, so seating nine is probably feasible.

Any nay's?
