This year's Arisia concrud is norovirus. Spread by food-sharing and contact.

I have never been so happy to
a) have celiac and
b) be too busy to even hug most people.

I have no symptoms of it thus far, and have pretty much committed to cocooning til all y'all are no longer contagious, being as last year's round of norovirus incapacitated me for three weeks. Internet hugs all around.

So far so clear here. We kept Beena home just in case, given that she *normally* feels nauseated in the morning - we weren't taking chances with norovirus having been at con.

I've counted 20 people so far including kids. There may be more. Kind of glad I missed it though it seems to have traveled around the Turtle track so those who had kids in it were most likely to get it. Depends on who the original vectors were though, alas.

I hope everyone is finally getting better though it seems others are just starting to get sick.

I know what you mean. I'm suddenly rather grateful that I was barely chugging along on a quarter impulse power for a large portion of the con. Kept me far enough away from the wrath of con.

Knock on wood, I'm still unscathed. Never was I so glad to not sleep in the con hotel even one night and was choosing to spend money on professionally prepared food rather than taking the cheap path of con food, which could be contaminated a lot more easily. Very disconcerting to see people around me drop like flies, though.

No crud so far, just crispy-fried exhaustion. Keeping kosher is useful it seems.

Speaking of this, we are slowly turning into staff den replacement for the entire kosher staff/program participant contingent at Arisia. I cannot promise the wide open hours of staff den, nor can I promise that everything would be 'song safe, but I can promise food where cross contamination is cared about, some 'song-safe food, and enough people with their own food issues that we're very careful to know what has gone into everything.

Kinda glad we were too tired (and still sick) to go this year. Wife got the WisCholera on the last day of WisCon the year it was so bad and wasn't THAT lovely to drive home 20 hours with, praying that I wouldn't get it. (I didn't.)

Joy! Rapture! And I'm emetophobic! It's taking all my willpower to stay at work and think about work things. Ah well, my 48 hour incubation period is ALMOST up. 2 or 3 more hours.

They are working on a vaccine. I will be first in line when it is released to the public!

Although I made liberal use of the food in the con suite, so far so good...*fingers crossed* I thought I was coming down w/something upper-respiratory on Sunday, but it looks like Emergen-C and Sambucol knocked that back. *more finger-crossing* I didn't get to hang out w/as many people as I would have liked, but perhaps that was a good thing in this context?...anyway, here's hoping that everyone who's been sick feels much better very soon!
