Through sheer inertia, I'm still a member of the SFPA, which means that I get to nominate one long poem and one short poem for the Rhysling Awards. I have some ideas already, and I read most of the best spec-poetry magazines already, but it is always possible that I have missed a brilliant poem of yours. Also, there are other SFPA members who read my LJ. So....

If you published poetry in 2011, link me to it in comments! If it's not available online and you'd like me to check it out, please send it to me at shadesong AT gmail.com.

And note that nominators only get to nominate two poems, period. This is always a really difficult choice, and there are usually at least a dozen poems that I really want to nominate, so I know I'm opening myself up to more agonizing by asking for your lists! But I want to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I only had two last year; I've only just stated to come out of a long spell of not submitting anything. "The Changeling's Lament" from Stone Telling #5 and "The Library, After" from Mythic Delirium #24 are both eligible.

Alas, Bull Spec #7 is still not out, so nothing I read at Arisia is eligible for 2011.

The best things I can think of (besides your work) that I've read last year were in the same issue of Stone Telling that published your poem, so you've probably read them.

Alas, the same inertia that keeps you in SFPA has kept me from getting around to joining, so I probably won't be nominating anything this year.

Heya! I had 4 come out last year, 3 short and 1 long -- "In Search of a North Countrie," (http://apex-magazine.com/2011/10/04/in-search-of-a-north-countrie/) "Pieces" (http://stonetelling.com/issue4-jun2011/el-mohtar-pieces.html), and "Stairs in Her Hair" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceeE6_I4ZIU) are short, and "Biting Tongues" (in The Wiscon Chronicles) is long, but the one I personally think is best and most worthy of nomination is "Pieces."

Poems I am most proud of:

2. "Thirteen Principles of Faith (http://www.apexbookcompany.com/apex-online/2011/04/thirteen-principles-of-faith/)." it's Jewish magic realism .
3. "If I had reb Yoel's violin (http://inkscrawl.net/issue1-june2011/lemberg-yoelsviolin.html)." it is only six lines, but I love it for some reason.
4. "The tenured faculty meets to discuss the moon's campus visit (http://roselemberg.net/?page_id=174&preview=true)," Mythic Delirium 25 (this is the only one not online, but I made it available on my website). (short).

And I have two short poems I'm certain are eligible, "In Defiance of Sleek-armed Androids," which appeared in Fantastique Unfettered 3, and "Kyrielle for a Cloned Baby" from Bull Spec 5.

The short poem I'm iffy on is "Requiem for the Roboticist" from Bull Spec 4, which has a Winter 2010-11 issue date. :/
