It needed a few revisions, but this is where it is right now!

Friday
6:00-7:00: Sexual Harassment & Assault In Fandom. No description, and I'm the only one on it; if [livejournal.com profile] cluegirl and [livejournal.com profile] aquila_dominus are there that early, they are so drafted!

Sunday
11:00 - 12:00: Unpacking the SF QUILTBAG. So human sexuality is a continuum and "normal" is a null concept. The term LGBT has been around for nearly 30 years, pointing to some areas on that continuum. How has SF/F/H literature featured these aspects of the continuum? Let's name some outstanding examples. How have lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender fans fared within fandom?

12:30 - 1:00: Reading: Shira Lipkin. As usual, if you can only come to one thing, come to the reading!

1:00 - 2:00: How Bad Can A Hero Be?. He may lie, cheat, steal, curse, flirt mercilessly, and disembowel bunches of hapless Darklordian henchman with a quip on his lips and a song in his heart. But can she step on her hamster's head in a fit of pique? Let's see where the boundaries of our sympathy for heroes, heroines, and their stories lie.

I actually have a whole day of no panels. I don't remember the last time that happened. They were worried about me having too many things on Sunday, but I was like "No, I've done 7-hour blocks of programming before, this is so not a problem."

The schedule as a whole isn't out yet, so I'm not sure what else I'll want to go to, but definitely the Tricky Pixie and Heather Dale concerts (for which I might be merch wenching? Uncertain, verifying) and a bunch of readings.

Four panels! This is like a vacation, you guys.

What will you read?

Also, that Hero panel sounds interesting. Like, "I don't have my opinions set about that one" interesting.

My reading may depend on the audience! Probably something from Cicatrix if most people there haven't heard it; maybe a short story and a poem or two if they have.

I have some opinions. :)

I would like to know about them when it would not spoil the panel!

Actually, now that I think about it, the topic is one that I've been exploring with MFP, particularly in the vein of violence - how much do you commit and when and still get to be a good guy is pretty much Gem's conflict, but I don't have an answer.

Yes, I also want to hear these! This is coming from someone who is kind of jaded with "anti-heroes." :)

I, at least, will be there. I'm heading up for a music date with [livejournal.com profile] slipjig earlier that week. [livejournal.com profile] aquila_dominus will arrive roughly 3 hours after the earliest minute he can leave work that afternoon. Which might be 6, or might be 9. It's impossible to tell, really.

Yay! And of course I'd love to see you before the con if that works for you and [livejournal.com profile] slipjig, timewise.

I'm waiting to find out the hours of the fan tables, and then I'll be nudging you to find out when you can staff the Backup Project table.

we had thought about maybe one day at the con of Saturday but if I can slip in and help out with the panel Friday night.

In Clarke's Imperial Earth, both heterosexuals and homosexuals are classed as mentally ill.

Do you have secret insider knowledge of when the concerts are? We're wanting to come for those but not for con, but the lack of program is frustrating the planning.
Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 08:28 pm (UTC)
Friday at 8: S00j and Cat Valente
Saturday afternoon: Tricky Pixie
Saturday afternoon (later): S00j and Heather (and Betsy?)
Sunday noon: Kiddie concert
Sunday evening: Tricky Pixie + Heather, and that's after the con, so you don't need to be a member to go.

ARGH. It sounds like we'll be missing that last concert, as I have class on President's Day and that means we have to leave Boston at a reasonable hour.
Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 05:10 am (UTC)

When Sunday evening is that final concert? Might be interested in coming, given I've never seen Tricky Pixie live, and I loved Heather when I did.

As yet unknown - I'll let you know when I know!
Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 06:25 am (UTC)
See you for the reading, maybe also for the immediately following panel. (Will this be a different reading than the one you did at Arisia?)
Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 10:48 am (UTC)
At least slightly different. If most of the audience is different, I'll do a similar reading; if not, short fiction and poetry.

Who is on the Hero panel with you?
